2007–08 In Welsh Football
National team 2007-08 saw Wales continue their quest for qualification to Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. They played the Republic of Ireland, San Marino, Cyprus, Germany, Czech Republic and Slovakia. They did not qualify for the finals tournament FAW Premier Cup In March 2008, Newport County won the FAW Premier Cup beating Llanelli 1–0 in the final. Welsh Cup Bangor City won the 2008 Welsh Cup beating Llanelli in the final 4-2 after extra time. Welsh League Cup Llanelli won the 2008 Welsh League Cup beating Rhyl 2–0 in the final. Welsh Premier League 2007-08 was the first since 2005 that the top division had 18 teams as a result of Neath Athletic's promotion from the Welsh Football League. Euro 2008
The 2008 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as UEFA Euro 2008 or simply Euro 2008, was the 13th UEFA European Championship, a quadrennial football tournament contested by the member nations of UEFA (the Union of European Football Associations). It took place in Austria and Switzerland (both hosting the tournament for the first time) from 7 to 29 June 2008. The tournament was won by Spain, who defeated Germany 1–0 in the final. Spain were only the second nation to win all their group stage fixtures and then the European Championship itself, matching France's achievement from 1984. Spain were also the first team since Germany in 1996 to win the tournament undefeated. Greece were the defending champions going into the tournament, having won UEFA Euro 2004. The Cymru Alliance League (known for sponsorship reasons as Huws Gray Alliance) was a football league in north and central Wales which formed the second level of the Welsh football league system. From the 2019/20 season onwards, it was replaced by the Cymru North. If the team which finished top of the league held a Domestic Licence, it could apply for promotion to the Welsh Premier League and was replaced by one of the bottom two teams in the Welsh Premier League. If the league champions did not hold a Domestic Licence, then the team which finished second, if in possession of a Domestic Licence, could be promoted instead. Llanelli ("St Elli's Parish"; ) is a market town and the largest community in Carmarthenshire and the preserved county of Dyfed, Wales.
