It took place from 29 August 2007 until 21 May 2008 with six teams participating. AZ became the first Eredivisie winners. The 60 matches of the season had a 45,695 total attendance. Teams On 20 March 2007, the league was officially unveiled by the KNVB with the six clubs taking part. The Vrouwen Eredivisie () (Dutch for ''Honor Division'', ''Eredivisie Vrouwen'' before 2020), also known as the Azerion Eredivisie Vrouwen due to a 3 year sponsor contract starting from the 2022–2023 season, is the highest women's football league in the Netherlands. Organized by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) it was established in 2007 as a professional league and played for five seasons until 2012 when the leagues of the Netherlands and Belgium merged forming a single combined league (BeNe League). After three seasons the BeNe League folded and the Eredivisie was restarted in the 2015–16 season. The league winner receives a spot in the UEFA Women's Champions League. Sportpark Schoonenberg (), branded as 711 Stadion for sponsorship reasons, is the home of Eerste Divisie club Telstar. It is located in Velsen-Zuid, Netherlands. It was opened in 1948, with minor renovations in 1999. The stadium, with a capacity of 5,200, consists of an all-seater east stand, a small terraced south stand, and an all-seater west stand. On the south stand are no seats. The latter stand was built in 2009 and has several built-in features, including new changing rooms, offices, and improved sponsor seating. Abe Lenstra Stadion () is a football stadium, located in Heerenveen, Netherlands. It is currently used mostly as a home ground for Eredivisie club Heerenveen. The current capacity is 27.224. Naming The stadium is named after Abe Lenstra, generally considered to be the greatest Heerenveen player in the history of the club. Abe was born on 27 November 1920 in Heerenveen and joined the club aged 15 years. After almost 17 years at Heerenveen, he joined SC Enschede in 1954. He left this club in 1960 to join SC Enschede's archrival Enschedese Boys. In 1963 he stopped playing football at the age of 42. In total he scored 700 goals in about 730 matches. Heerenveen (, fry, It Hearrenfean ) is a town and municipality in the province of Friesland (Fryslân), in the Northern Netherlands. In 2021, the town had a population of 29,790 (1 January) while the municipality had a population 50,859 (1 July). History The town was established in 1551 by three lords as a location for the purpose of digging peat which was used for fuel, hence the name (''heer'' is "lord", ''veen'' is "peat").
