The Cornwall League 1 2007–08 was a full season of rugby union within Cornwall League 1. Team Changes Saltash as Champions, were promoted to the Tribute Cornwall/Devon League for season 2008–09. There was no relegation into Cornwall 1 and no relegation into Cornwall League 2. Saltash
Saltash (Cornish: Essa) is a town and civil parish in south Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It had a population of 16,184 in 2011 census. Saltash faces the city of Plymouth over the River Tamar and is popularly known as "the Gateway to Cornwall". Saltash’s landmarks include the Tamar Bridge which connects Plymouth to Cornwall by road, and the Royal Albert Bridge. The area of Latchbrook is part of the town. Description Saltash is the location of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's Royal Albert Bridge, opened by Prince Albert on 2 May 1859. It takes the railway line across the River Tamar. Helston
Helston ( kw, Hellys) is a town and civil parish in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. 2008–09 Cornwall League 1
The Cornwall League 1 2008–09 was a full season of rugby union within Cornwall League 1. Team Changes Stithians as Champions, were promoted to the Tribute Cornwall/Devon League for season 2009–10. With an increase from 12 to 16 teams in the aforementioned league, St Austell and Liskeard-Looe were also promoted. The two Cornwall leagues will combine for next season and Camborne School of Mines, Illogan Park, Lankelly-Fowey, Redruth Albany, St Agnes, St Day and Veor will join the remaining teams for the following season. Rugby union, commonly known simply as rugby, is a close-contact team sport that originated at Rugby School in the first half of the 19th century. Cornwall League 1
Counties 2 Cornwall (sponsored by St Austell Brewery using the Tribute brand name) is an English level eight rugby union league for clubs based in Cornwall. The champions are promoted to Counties 1 Western West and two teams are relegated to Counties 3 Cornwall. For the first time, reserve teams are allowed to participate. The current champions are St Ives RFC (Cornwall). Until the 2021–22 it was known as Tribute Cornwall League 1 and was a level nine league. It has been running continually since the 1987–88 season. The champions were promoted to the Cornwall/Devon, and the runner-up played the second team in Devon 1, with the winning team also gaining promotion. Tribute Cornwall/Devon
Cornwall/Devon League (known as Tribute Cornwall/Devon League for sponsorship reasons) was an English level eight, rugby union league for clubs principally based in Cornwall and Devon. Following the reorganisation of the English rugby union leagues in 2022, the league was replaced by two level eight leagues based in Cornwall and Devon. The Pirates Amateurs won the last competition in season 2021–22 and were promoted to Counties 1 Western West Format The champions and runner-up were promoted to Western Counties West. The number of teams relegated depends on feedback following promotion and relegation in the leagues above, but was usually two or three to Cornwall 1 and/or Devon 1. The season ran from September to April and comprised twenty-six rounds of matches, with each club playing each of its rivals, home and away. Counties 3 Cornwall (formerly known as Tribute Cornwall League 2) is an English level nine rugby union league for clubs based in Cornwall. The champions and runner-up are promoted to Counties 2 Cornwall (formerly Cornwall League 1); there is no relegation. The league ran continuously since 1987–88, except for a two-season break, when Cornwall 2 combined with Cornwall League 1 for seasons 2009–10 and 2010–11. The competition recommenced in 2011–12 when it was decided to form two leagues of seven teams each. For the 2016–17 season Cornwall 1 and Cornwall 2 were amalgamated to create the Cornwall League with fifteen teams playing each other once in the first phase. After Christmas the teams split into two leagues with the top eight playing in Cornwall One and the remainder playing in Cornwall Two.
