2007–08 BCHL Season
The 2007–08 BCHL season is the 46th Season (sport), season of the British Columbia Hockey League. It began on September 7, 2007, and ran through February 27, 2008, followed by the 2008 Fred Page Cup Playoffs, Fred Page Cup Playoffs, ending in April, 2008. On February 28, the league announced a partnership with INSINC to live video stream the 2008 playoffs. Scott Knowles of the Surrey Eagles scored the first goal of the season against the Langley Chiefs on September 7 in one of seven games on opening night. The Nanaimo Clippers and Vernon Vipers matched up for the first time since the 2007 Fred Page Cup Finals on November 16, 2007, at Nanaimo, British Columbia, Nanaimo. British Columbia Hockey League
The British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league from British Columbia under Hockey Canada and BC Hockey. Founded in Vernon in 1961, the BCHL now includes 18 teams. From 1993 to 2021, the league was a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), an association of Junior A leagues across Canada that would play for the National Junior A Championship. The winner of the BCHL playoffs (Fred Page Cup) would continue on to play the Alberta Junior Hockey League champion in the Doyle Cup for the right to then compete in the National Junior A Championship. In 2021, the BCHL left the CJHL. History In 1961, the heads of four junior "B" hockey teams in the Okanagan region of British Columbia got together and formed the first Junior "A" league in British Columbia's history.
