2007 In South Korean Football
This article shows the summary of 2007 football season in South Korea. National teams AFC Asian Cup After excluding three Premier League players (Park Ji-sung, Lee Young-pyo and Seol Ki-hyeon) due to their injuries, South Korea had difficulty again in the Asian Cup. Furthermore, some players including the captain Lee Woon-jae were criticised by fans for visiting a hostess bar in the middle of the group stage. South Korea's outfield players made only three goals during the competition. However, Lee led his team to third place by keeping four clean sheets and winning two penalty shoot-outs. 2007 K League
The 2007 K League was the 25th season of the K League. The format of the league was changed from two stages to single league since this season. Each team played 26 matches against every other teams under the home and away system. After the regular league was finished, the top six clubs qualified for the championship playoffs to determine champions. It took a break after the Round 13 on 23 June due to the 2007 AFC Asian Cup, and resumed with the Round 14 on 8 August. Yasser Al-Qahtani
Yasser Saeed Al-Qahtani ( ar, ياسر سعيد القحطاني; born 10 October 1982) is a former Saudi footballer who played as a forward for Al-Hilal FC in the Saudi Professional League. He was also captain of the Saudi Arabia national team. Yasser is widely recognized as one of the greatest Saudi footballers of the 21st century. Club career In 2005, Al-Qahtani moved to Al-Hilal from Al-Qadisiyah for a reported £2.5 million transfer fee. After leading Saudi Arabia to the finals of the 2007 AFC Asian Cup as one of the tournament's top scorers, he won the Asian Footballer of the Year award. The Bukit Jalil National Stadium ( Malay: Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil) in Bukit Jalil, located in the National Sports Complex to the south of the city centre of Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur, is an all-seater multi-purpose stadium and the home ground of the Malaysian national football team. With a capacity of 87,411, it is the largest in Southeast Asia, third largest in Asia, and the eighth largest football stadium in the world. Kim Jung-woo (, born 9 May 1982) is a former South Korean footballer. Club career Kim was playing for military team Sangju Sangmu Phoenix to perform compulsory military service when participating in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and his low salary (₩0.95 million per year) during the military service was the talk of fans before the match against Argentina which had one of the highest earners Lionel Messi. Sun Baojie (; ; born 2 January 1965) is a retired Chinese football referee. He is also a teacher of Tsinghua University. He has refereed internationally in the AFC Asian Cup, Tiger Cup, and qualifiers for the 1998, 2006, and 2010 World Cups. Sun officiated the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship, taking charge of the opening match between Argentina and Finland. He is also a referee at the AFC Champions League and Chinese Super League. Kim Do-heon (, ; born 14 July 1982) is a South Korean former professional footballer. Club career Kim played for Suwon Samsung Bluewings and Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma before joining West Bromwich Albion. He led each team's K League title, and his technical abilities was likened to Paul Scholes in South Korea. Kim spent a few days on trial at West Brom in December 2007, and could be loaned to the club from February with an option for a permanent switch at the end of the season. He scored his first goal for West Brom in the final match of the season against Queens Park Rangers, eight minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute. Ismail (Ismaeel) Abdullatif Ismail Hassan, also spelled Abdullatif ( ar, إسماعيل عبد اللطيف; born September 11, 1986), is a Bahraini professional football forward, currently playing for Al Khalidiya SC and the Bahrain national football team, and appeared for the team in the 2007, 2011 and 2015 AFC Asian Cup finals. Salman Isa Ghuloom ( ar, سلمان عيسى; born 12 July 1977), known to many as just Salman Isa, is a retired Bahraini footballer who played as a winger or a wingback. World Cup Qualifiers Salman is noted for scoring for Bahrain in the Asia-Concacaf playoff qualifier for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany against Trinidad and Tobago. In doing so he gave Bahrain the lead, playing away at Port of Spain in the first leg.
