Giovanna Trillini
Giovanna Trillini (born 17 May 1970 in Iesi) is an Italian Foil (fencing), foil fencing, fencer. She is a 4-time Olympic champion (3 times in the team event, 1 time individual) and she won an additional silver and two bronze medals in individual Olympic competitions. Biography She has two brothers, Ezio and Roberto, who were both fencers. In 2001, she got her degree in Sport Science at the University of Urbino. Trillini won the bronze medal at the foil 2006 World Fencing Championships after she lost 15–8 to Margherita Granbassi in the semi final. Later in the tournament she also won a silver in the team's foil event together with her teammates Elisa Di Francisca, Margherita Granbassi and Valentina Vezzali. Margherita Granbassi
Margherita Granbassi (; born 1 September 1979 in Trieste) is an Italian foil fencer. Granbassi won the gold medal at the foil 2006 World Fencing Championships after beating Valentina Vezzali 7–6 in the final. Later in the tournament she also won a silver in the team's foil event together with her teammates Elisa Di Francisca, Giovanna Trillini and Valentina Vezzali. Valentina Vezzali
Maria Valentina Vezzali (; born 14 February 1974) is an Italian politician and retired fencer. As a fencer, Vezzali won six Olympic gold medals and was a 16-time World Champion in foil. She is one of only five athletes in the history of the Summer Olympic Games to have won five medals in the same individual event. In 2013, Vezzali became a member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies as part of the Civic Choice party. In 2021, she became Italy's cabinet undersecretary in charge of sports. Fencing Vezzali was the first fencer in Olympic history to win three individual foil gold medals at three consecutive Olympics – Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008. Irina Embrich
Irina Embrich, née Zamkovaja (born 12 July 1980) is an Estonian left-handed épée fencer. Embrich is a two-time team European champion and 2017 team world champion. A two-time Olympian, Embrich is a 2021 team Olympic champion. Embrich competed in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Biography Embrich's first sport was gymnastics, but she resented the hard discipline of the Soviet era. She later took to rhythmic gymnastics and then fencing under coach Samuil Kaminski. She ranked 20th then 12th at the cadet World championships in 1996 and 1998, but snatched the bronze medal at the junior event in 1999. Maureen Nisima (born 30 July 1981 in Bondy, Seine-Saint-Denis) is a French épée fencer, who won the bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics alongside Laura Flessel-Colovic, Hajnalka Kiraly Picot and Sarah Daninthe. Li Na (; born 9 March 1981 in Dandong, Liaoning) is a Chinese épée fencer. She won a bronze medal in the women's team épée event at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and won gold in the same event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Li won the gold medal in the épée team event at the 2006 World Fencing Championships, after beating France in the final. Britta Heidemann (born 22 December 1982) is a German épée fencer. In 2016, Heidemann became a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Career Épée Fencing At the age of 14, already being a successful athlete and swimmer, Britta Heidemann had her first contact with fencing in a variation of modern pentathlon called Friesenkampf. Oh Eun-seok (; born 2 April 1983) is a South Korean retired sabre fencer. He is an Olympic and Asian Games gold medalist in the team event. Early life A native of Daegu, Oh was a former runner and took up fencing in middle school. He attended Osung High School, one of the few high schools in the city with a fencing club. It was not until he enrolled at Dong-Eui University, known for its fencing team, that he decided to turn professional. Nicolas Limbach
Nicolas Limbach (born 29 December 1985) is a German fencer, world champion in 2009 and team world champion in 2014. He won the Fencing World Cup in 2008–2009, 2009–2010 and 2011–2012. Biography Limbach was born in a family closely involved in fencing: his father directs the fencing section of TSV Bayer Dormagen and his younger sister Anna also fences for Germany. Aldo Montano (born 18 November 1978) is an Italian fencer and a five-time Olympic medalist. He received a gold medal in sabre individual at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. On 11 October 2011, he won the gold medal at the World Championships in Catania, Italy. He won a silver medal in Men's team sabre at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
