The 2007 Women's Bandy World Championship the third Women's Bandy World Championship and was contested between 7 bandy playing countries. The championship was played in Budapest, Hungary from 11–17 February 2007. In the final-game Sweden defeated Russia, 3-2. City Park Ice Rink
The City Park Ice Rink ( hu, Városligeti Műjégpálya) is a public ice rink located in the City Park of the Hungarian capital Budapest, between the Heroes' Square and the Vajdahunyad Castle. Opened in 1870, it is the largest and one of the oldest ice rinks in Europe. In summer months the area is filled up with water to create a pond, which is primarily used for boating, but also hosted several special events, such as the snowball fight world record attempt in 2009 or the Art on Lake exhibition in 2011. It went through a complete renovation between 2009 and 2011, in which the main building was restored to its 19th-century look. The skating area was expanded to and a standard ice hockey rink was set up as well. 2008 Women's Bandy World Championship
The 2008 Women's Bandy World Championship took place in Borlänge, Grängesberg and Karlsbyheden, Sweden, between 13 and 16 February. It was the fourth Women's Bandy World Championship in bandy. Sweden won the final against Russia 5-2 and became world champions for the fourth time. Finland won the bronze final 5-3 against Norway. Women's Bandy World Championship
The Women's Bandy World Championships is an international sports tournament for women and the premier international competition for women's bandy between bandy-playing nations. The tournament is administrated by the Federation of International Bandy. It is distinct from the Bandy World Cup Women which is a women's club competition, the Bandy World Cup which is a club competition for men, and from the Bandy World Championship which is the premier international bandy competition for men's teams. A Youth Bandy World Championship also exists separately from the women's senior competition and has competitions in both the male and female categories, with the F17 WC tournament representing the youth World Championship in bandy for girls up to 17 years of age. Bandy
Bandy is a winter sport and ball sport played by two teams wearing ice skates on a large ice surface (either indoors or outdoors) while using sticks to direct a ball into the opposing team's goal. The international governing body for bandy is the Federation of International Bandy (FIB). The playing surface, called a bandy field or bandy rink, is a sheet of ice which measures 90–110 meters by 45–65 meters – about the size of a football pitch. The field is considerably larger than the ice rinks commonly used for ice hockey, rink bandy, or figure skating.
