2007 Valdosta State Blazers Football Team
The 2007 Valdosta State Blazers football team was an American football team that represented Valdosta State University as a member of the Gulf South Conference (GSC) during the 2007 NCAA Division II football season. In their first year under head coach David Dean, the team compiled a 13–1 record (7–1 against conference opponents) and finished second in the GSC. The team advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs and defeated , 25–20, in the championship game. The Blazers played their home games at Bazemore–Hyder Stadium in Valdosta, Georgia. Gulf South Conference
The Gulf South Conference (GSC) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level, which operates in the Southeastern United States. History Originally known as the Mid-South Athletic Conference or Mid-South Conference, the Gulf South Conference was formed by six universities in the summer of 1970: Delta State, Florence State (now North Alabama), Jacksonville State, Livingston (now West Alabama), Tennessee–Martin, and Troy State (now Troy). Scheduling problems for the 1970–71 academic year limited the league to football, won by Jacksonville State. Valdosta State–West Georgia Football Rivalry
The Valdosta State–West Georgia football rivalry, commonly known as the Battle for the Peach Basket, is a college football rivalry game between two public universities in the U.S. state of Georgia, the Valdosta State University Blazers and the University of West Georgia Wolves that compete for the Peach Basket. The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) is an association of over 11,000 American football coaches and staff on all levels. Hepner–Bailey Field at Adamson Stadium is an American football stadium, located in California, Pennsylvania on the campus of Pennsylvania Western University California (PennWest California; known before July 2022 as California University of Pennsylvania, or Cal U). Maurice Lamar Leggett (also known as Moe Leggett) (born October 2, 1986) is an American football cornerback who is currently a free agent. He was previously a member of the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League (CFL). James Colzie III (born December 8, 1974) is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach for Florida A&M University, a position he has held since 2024. He was the head football coach for Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from 2016 to 2021.
