2007 Singapore League Cup
The inaugural Singapore League Cup was held in 2007. The tournament was held before the start of the S.League season that year. Prior to this tournament, there is another tournament with the same name that was held until in 1997 where the Singapore Armed Forces had defeated Geylang United by 1-0 in the final. However that old Singapore League Cup was subsequently renamed into present Singapore Cup and evolved to be the major cup competition in Singapore football. In recent years, invitational foreign teams participated in the Singapore Cup along with the local clubs. The League Cup, however, is solely reserved for domestic clubs. The 2007 competition was sponsored by SingTel, and officially titled the SingTel League Cup. A direct knockout format was used, with the first round being the quarter-final stage as only eight out of the twelve S.League teams participated in the competition. Woodlands Wellington Football Club is an inactive professional association football, football club which played in the S.League, the top division of football in Singapore. They are based in Woodlands, Singapore, Woodlands at the 4,300 seater Woodlands Stadium, where they have played since their establishment. Woodlands Wellington FC's honours include winning the inaugural Singapore League Cup in 2007, defeating Sengkang Punggol FC 4–0 in the final. Woodlands Stadium
Woodlands Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in Woodlands, Singapore. It is currently the home ground of S.League side, Woodlands Wellington FC, and used mostly for football matches for both the S.League and Prime League competitions. Apart from being used for competitive matches, the pitch is also used by the club for their training sessions as well. The stadium was officially opened in August 1989 as part of the eight hectare Woodlands Sports Complex, which also consists of the Woodlands Sports Hall and the Woodlands Swimming Complex. All three facilities are owned and operated by Sport Singapore. Woodlands Stadium houses a grass football pitch, an 8-lane running track and partial athletic facilities. People can be seen running around the track daily as Sport Singapore allows joggers to use the track facilities between 4:30am to 8:30pm for free. Park Tae-won (footballer)
is a South Korean professional footballer who last played for the Singaporean club Singapore Armed Forces. Club career South Korea He began his football career with South Korean club Chunnam Dragons in 1999. He played only 1 league game with Chunnam. Singapore In 2001, Park moved to S. League in Singapore, and joined Jurong FC. He finished as Jurong's top goalscorer with 24 goals in his debut season. Throughout a three-year spell at Jurong, he scored a total of 44 goals. Park joined Balestier Khalsa in 2004, but he moved to Woodlands Wellington a year later. Hougang Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located at the junction of Hougang Avenue 2 and Hougang Avenue 10 in Hougang, Singapore. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Hougang United FC. Peres Spíndula de Oliveira (born 7 November 1974), also known as Peres , is a Brazilian professional football player who last played for Home United FC in S.League. He retired at the end of the 2010 season. Laakkad Abdelhadi (born 27 April 1977) is a Moroccan retired professional footballer. He played for Pro Duta FC in the Liga Indonesia Premier Division (LPIS). He previously played for Woodlands Wellington FC in the S.League.
