The 2007 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canada's women's curling championship, was held February 17–25 at the ENMAX Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta. It marks the first year under the ''Scotties'' brand name. The winner was the defending champions Team Canada, under skip Kelly Scott. Lethbridge
Lethbridge ( ) is a city in the province of Alberta, Canada. With a population of 101,482 in its 2019 Alberta municipal censuses, 2019 municipal census, Lethbridge became the fourth Alberta city to surpass 100,000 people. The nearby Canadian Rockies, Canadian Rocky Mountains contribute to the city's warm summers, mild winters, and Chinook wind, windy climate. Lethbridge lies southeast of Calgary on the Oldman River. Scotties
Scotties is a facial tissue brand originally owned by the Scott Paper Company, created in 1955. Kimberly-Clark, owner of the rival Kleenex brand, acquired Scott Paper in 1997. For competitive reasons, Federal Register / Vol. 60, No. 246 / Friday, December 22, 1995 it was required to resell the Scotties business in the U.S. and sold it to Irving Tissue while maintaining control of the trademark on the Scotties brand. Kruger Inc. separately acquired Scott's Canadian subsidiary, now known as Kruger Products, which sells Scotties tissues there. Shannon Joanisse, also known as Shannon Aleksic (born September 28, 1976) is a Canadian curler from Abbotsford, British Columbia. She currently plays second for the Karla Thompson rink. Curling career Juniors Joanisse participated in the Saskatchewan junior provincials as a skip from 1994 until 1998, and then lost her age eligibility, never making it to a Canadian Junior Curling Championships during her eligibility years. 1999–2006 In 1999, Joanisse participated in the Saskatchewan Scott Tournament of Hearts, playing lead for Cindy Street. Georgina Wheatcroft
Georgina Wheatcroft (born November 30, 1965 in Nanaimo, British Columbia as Georgina Hawkes) is a Canadian curler. She won a bronze medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics while on Kelley Law's team. Curling career Wheatcroft made her Scott Tournament of Hearts, the Canadian women's national championship, debut in 1987 as a third for Pat Sanders. Wheatcroft's prior experience had been as a skip at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in 1985 for British Columbia. Sanders, Wheatcroft, and their British Columbia team won the 1987 Scott Tournament of Hearts, defeating Kathie Ellwood in the final. At the World Championships that year, the team won the gold medal defeating Germany's Andrea Schöpp in the final. In 1988 Wheatcroft played second for Sanders at the Tournament of Hearts and they lost in the final to Heather Houston. New Westminster (colloquially known as New West) is a city in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, Canada, and a member municipality of the Metro Vancouver Regional District. Construction of the Royal City Curling Club in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, began in August 1965, and was completed in January 1966. Corinne "Cori" Morris (born June 21, 1971 as Corinne Bartel) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. She played lead for the Olympic silver medal-winning Cheryl Bernard rink from 2005 to 2011. Currently, she plays lead for Susan O'Connor, another member of that team. Morris grew up in Lanigan, Saskatchewan. In 1998, Morris played in Ontario, and played in the provincial Scott Tournament of Hearts, as an alternate player for the Cheryl McBain team. She would later move to Alberta. Morris joined Bernard in 2005 after playing for Heather Rankin. She has since been to the 2007 and 2009 Scotties Tournament of Hearts as a member of that team. Carolyn Darbyshire
Carolyn Darbyshire-McRorie (born December 6, 1963) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. She played second for Cheryl Bernard from 2005–2011. She is currently the coach of Team Casey Scheidegger. Career Darbyshire-McRorie joined Bernard's team in 2005 after playing for Renelle Bryden. She has since won two provincial championships as a member of the team (2007 and 2009). Darbyshire-McRorie played third for Heather Fowlie (Rankin) at the 2001 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, and finished with a 4–5 record. As a member of team Bernard, Darbyshire-McRorie once again made it to the trials in 2009. McRorie is known for her distinctive "Manitoba tuck" delivery while using a corn broom while delivering the rock. Susan O'Connor
Susan O'Connor (born May 3, 1977) is a Canadians, Canadian curling, curler from Calgary, Alberta. She is an Olympic silver medallist. Career In 2000, O'Connor played third for Kevin Koe at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. The team, which also included Greg Northcott and Lawnie MacDonald, won the championship. In 2007, O'Connor won her first provincial championship playing third for Cheryl Bernard, and represented Team Alberta at the 2007 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. They again represented Alberta at the Scotties in 2009 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, 2009. At the 2008 Canadian Mixed Championship, O'Connor played third for Dean Ross, and won her second Mixed title with team mates Tim Krassman and Susan Wright (curler), Susan Wright.
