Tommy Gainey
Tommy Dale Gainey (born August 13, 1975), also known as "Two Gloves", is an American professional golfer on the PGA Tour. Early life and education Gainey was born in Darlington, South Carolina. He attended the Central Carolina Technical College, studying industrial maintenance, and graduated in 1999. Before becoming a professional golfer, he worked on an assembly line in South Carolina, wrapping insulation around hot water heaters for A.O. Smith Corporation. Professional career Early career Gainey turned professional in 1997, and for the next several years played golf on smaller tours in the southern United States. Gainey won four events on the Egolf Tarheel Tour, two in 2006 and one in 2007. He also won an event on the NGA Hooters Tour, and he played on the Gateway Tour. James David McGovern (born February 5, 1965) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. Early life McGovern was born in Teaneck, New Jersey. The 2000 Presidents Cup was held between October 19 and 22, 2000. It was played at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia, U.S. The United States team won the competition by a margin of 21–10. The honorary chairman was American President Bill Clinton. Format Both teams had 12 players plus a non-playing captain. The competition was four days long unlike the past three tournaments where there were three days of competition. The same number of matches were still played though. 1998 Presidents Cup
The 1998 Presidents Cup was held 11–13 December in Australia at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Black Rock, Victoria, a suburb southeast of Melbourne. The International team won the competition by a margin of 20–11. This was the first time the International team won the competition, and through 2022, is their sole victory. The honorary chairman was Australian Prime Minister John Howard. It was the third Presidents Cup competition and the first held outside the United States. Carlos Daniel Franco (born 24 May 1965) is a Paraguayan professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour Champions. He is the brother of golfer Ángel Franco. Franco was born in Asunción, Paraguay. He comes from a poor background and grew up in a one-room, dirt-floor home. His father was a greenkeeper and caddie, and he has five brothers, all of whom became golf professionals. Carlos turned professional in 1986 and has played in many parts of the world. He has won more than twenty tournaments in Latin America, and from 1994 to 1999 he won five times on the Japan Golf Tour. 2007 Walker Cup
The 41st Walker Cup Match was played on 8 and 9 September 2007 at the Royal County Down Golf Club in Newcastle, County Down, Northern Ireland. Team United States won 12½ to 11½. The United States won by the same score in 2005. Format The format for play on Saturday and Sunday are the same. There are four matches of foursomes in the morning and eight singles matches in the afternoon. In all, 24 matches are played. Each of the 24 matches is worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match is all square after the 18th hole extra holes are not played – each side earns ½ a point toward their team total. The team that accumulates at least 12½ points wins the competition. Dustin Hunter Johnson (born June 22, 1984) is an American professional golfer. He has won two major championships, the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club with a 4-under-par score of 276 and the 2020 Masters Tournament with a record score of 268, 20-under-par. Kevin Streelman (born November 4, 1978) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Early years and amateur career Born in Winfield, Illinois, Streelman, who caddied at famed three-time U.S. Open venue Chicago Golf Club while growing up, graduated from Wheaton Warrenville South High School in 1997 and Duke University in 2001, and is a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Kenneth Andrew Ferrie (born 28 September 1978) is an English professional golfer. Early life and amateur career Ferrie was born in Ashington, Northumberland. He won the British Boys Championship in 1996 and made his first appearance in a European Tour event that year as an invitee at his local event, the Slaley Hall Northumberland Challenge. He attended Midland College in Texas, United States, where he was a two time NJCAA All-American. Professional career Ferrie turned professional in 1999.
