Imo State
Imo State ( ig, Ȯra Imo) is a States of Nigeria, state in the South East (Nigeria), South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered to the north by Anambra State, Rivers State to the west and south, and Abia State to the east. It takes its name from the Imo River which flows along the state's eastern border. The state capital is Owerri and its state nickname is the "Eastern Heartland." The Senate is the upper chamber of Nigeria's bicameral legislature, the National Assembly of Nigeria. Chris Anyanwu
Christiana "Chris" Anyanwu MFR (born 28 October 1951) is a Nigerian journalist, publisher, author, and politician. She was imprisoned from 1995 to 1998 for treason after reporting on a failed coup d'état against the government of Sani Abacha, and won several international journalism prizes during her confinement, including the UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize. Believing that she could make more of an impact in politics than in journalism, Anyanwu ran for office and was elected Senator for the Imo East (Owerri) constituency in 2007. Early life and career Anyanwu was born in Mbaise, Imo State. She attended Owerri Girls Secondary School before moving to the US, where she earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri and a master's degree in Mass Communication from Florida State University. Osita Izunaso
Osita B. Izunaso (born 30 October 1966) was elected Senator for the Imo West (Orlu) constituency of Imo State, Nigeria, taking office on 29 May 2007. He is a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC). Izunaso obtained a BA (Hons) from the University of Jos (1989), a post-graduate degree in journalism from the University of Abuja (1998) and an MBA from the University of Calabar (2002). Sylvester Udubuisi Anyanwu (born 26 May 1951) was elected Senator for the Imo North (Okigwe) constituency of Imo State, Nigeria, taking office on 29 May 2007 Nigerian Senate elections in Imo State, 2007. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party (Nigeria), People's Democratic Party (PDP). Anyanwu obtained a bachelor's degree in accounting, economics and a master's degree in business administration (finance). He worked as a banker abroad for many years before returning to Nigeria.
