2007 Kosovar Parliamentary Election
'Parliamentary elections were held in Kosovo on 17 November 2007 alongside Municipal elections. Voters elected the 120 members of the unicameral Assembly, the legislative branch of the Provisional Institutions of Self-Government that the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo created. The elections were scheduled by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Joachim Rücker (head of the UNMIK) on 1 September 2007. Results Of the ten seats reserved for Serbs, six were won by four parties which decided to form a coalition on 5 December: Slaviša Petković's Serb Democratic Party of Kosovo and Metohija, Dragiša Mirić's Serb Kosovo-Metohija Party, Mihajl Šćepanović's Serb People's Party and Nebojša Živić's Union of Independent Social Democrats of Kosovo and Metohija. 2004 Kosovan Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Kosovo on 24 October 2004. This was the second time the Assembly of Kosovo had a national election. The first form of national elections in Kosovo were in the 2001 Kosovan parliamentary election. They were the first national elections that were only partially dependent on OSCE institutions. The next election would be the 2007 Kosovan parliamentary election. Joachim Rücker
Joachim Rücker (born May 30, 1951, in Schwäbisch Hall, Baden-Württemberg) is a German diplomat. He was the President of the United Nations Human Rights Council. Personal life Rücker was born in 1951 in Schwäbisch Hall, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. He has a doctoral degree in international economics. Career Rücker previously served as a foreign policy adviser to the Social Democratic parliamentary group in the German Bundestag. He was the Commissioner for Finance and Head of the Budget and Finance Division at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin. United Nations Interim Administration Mission In Kosovo
The United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) is the officially mandated mission of the United Nations in Kosovo. The UNMIK describes its mandate as being to "help the United Nations Security Council achieve an overall objective, namely, to ensure conditions for a peaceful and normal life for all inhabitants of Kosovo and advance regional stability in the Western Balkans." 2007 Kosovan Local Elections
Municipal elections were held in Kosovo on November 17, 2007, at the same time as elections to the Assembly of Kosovo, with a second round for the mayoral elections held on 2007-12-08. The date was originally set for September 1, 2007 by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Joachim Rücker (head of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo). The elections were held in Kosovo's thirty municipalities, and for the first time, local mayors were directly elected. Joachim Rücker decided not to officially recognise the election results in mainly Serb-populated municipalities where Albanians were elected due to the Serb election boycott. Agim Çeku ( sh, Agim Čeku, born 29 October 1960) is a Kosovan politician, the former minister of Security Forces in Kosovo and formerly the prime minister. Of military background, he was a commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) that fought against Serbian rule in 1998–1999, earlier being a commander in the Croatian War of Independence in the Croatian Army. Çeku is an ethnic Albanian who served as an officer in the Croatian Army during the Croatian War of Independence and was military commander of the KLA during the 1998–1999 Kosovo War, and then commanded the Kosovo Protection Corps under the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo.
