2007 Indianapolis Colts Season
The Indianapolis Colts season was the franchise's 55th season in the National Football League, the 24th in Indianapolis and the 6th season under head coach Tony Dungy. The defending AFC and Super Bowl champions improved upon their 12–4 record from 2006 as well as won their fifth-straight AFC South Championship. They finished the season 13–3 and lost to the San Diego Chargers in the divisional round of the playoffs. The Colts remained under the supervision of Head Coach Tony Dungy and played all of their home games in the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana. 2007 was the Colts' final season in the RCA Dome, as they began playing home games in Lucas Oil Stadium in 2008. Tony Dungy
Anthony Kevin Dungy ( ; born October 6, 1955) is an American former football safety and coach who served as a head coach in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts. Dungy's teams became perennial postseason contenders under his leadership, missing the playoffs only twice with Tampa Bay. He led the Colts to victory in Super Bowl XLI over the Chicago Bears, making him the first African-American head coach to win the Super Bowl. Dungy began his head coaching tenure in 1996 with the Buccaneers, a franchise regarded as one of the league's worst, and was successfully able to turn the team's image. The Indianapolis Colts are a professional American football team based in Indianapolis, Indiana. They are a member of the South Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). In 1953, a Baltimore-based group led by Carroll Rosenbloom won the rights to a new Baltimore franchise. Johnathan Goddard
Jonathan Bruce Goddard (May 11, 1981 – June 15, 2008) was an American defensive end in the National Football League and Arena Football League. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions and also spent time with the Indianapolis Colts and Colorado Crush before his death in a June 2008 motorcycle accident. Early years Goddard was born in San Diego, California, and attended Edward H. White High School in Jacksonville, Florida. College career Goddard attended Marshall University, where he played for the Thundering Herd and was an All-America selection. Gilbert Gardner
Gilbert Ravelle Gardner, II (born May 9, 1982 in Angleton, Texas) is a former American football linebacker. He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football at Purdue. Gardner earned a Super Bowl ring with the Colts in Super Bowl XLI over the Chicago Bears. He also played for the Tennessee Titans, the Detroit Lions and the Bears. Early years Gardner attended Angleton High School in Angleton, Texas and was a letterman in football, baseball, and track. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. Jerome Collins
Jerome Vincent Collins (born August 18, 1982) is a former American football tight end. He was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at Notre Dame. Early years Jerome attended Wheaton Warrenville South High School from 1996 to 2000. He was on the undefeated 1998 Illinois ( IHSA) football championship team for division 6-A, which at the time was the most populated division of Illinois high schools. Jerome played high school football with former University of Illinois quarterback Jon Beutjer and Northwestern University wide receiver Jon Schweighardt. Tight End
The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are eligible receivers adept enough to warrant a defense's attention when running pass patterns. Because of the hybrid nature of the position, the tight end's role in any given offense depends on the tactical preferences and philosophy of the head coach as well as overall team dynamic. Dwight Jason Freeney (born February 19, 1980) is an American former football player who played as a defensive end and outside linebacker for 16 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Syracuse University, where he earned unanimous All-American honors, and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. With the Colts, Freeney won Super Bowl XLI over the Chicago Bears, and made seven Pro Bowls. Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played.
