The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television's 22nd Gemini Awards were held on October 28, 2007, to honour achievements in Canadian television. The awards show, which was hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos, took place at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan and was broadcast on CBC. Conexus Arts Centre
The Conexus Arts Centre, known from 1970 till 2006 (and still largely known) as the Saskatchewan Centre of the Arts, is a theatre complex located within Wascana Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, which largely replaces former theatres downtown and Darke Hall on the original campus of Regina College, also in Wascana Centre but north of Wascana Lake. Naming of the Venue as Conexus Arts Centre was possible through a Partner/Sponsor Agreement with the Conexus Credit Union. Planning and building Planned and originally funded to commemorate the Canadian Centennial in 1967, its construction was interrupted by a substantial increase in cost and after the steel frame was put up the project did not proceed further for some years. Chris Haddock
Chris Haddock is a Canadian screenwriter, producer and director best known as the creator and showrunner of the CBC Television series ''Da Vinci's Inquest'', ''Da Vinci's City Hall'', ''Intelligence'' and ''The Romeo Section''. He has won 14 Gemini Awards as a writer, producer and/or director and received another 15 nominations - most of them for ''Da Vinci's Inquest''. Career Haddock began as a street performer, but he later focused his creative energies into screenwriting for television. One of his earliest efforts in writing was for the popular series, ''MacGyver'', where he also served as the Story Editor and Executive Story Editor. He founded Haddock Entertainment in 1997. Ken Gord
Kenneth Steven Gord (born February 25, 1949) is a Canadian film and television producer. Early years Gord was born in Toronto, Ontario. His parents, Henry and Goldie Gord, were also native Torontonians and Ken was their middle child. Gord graduated from Bathurst Heights Secondary School and then enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts program at the University of Toronto but dropped out after completing the second of three years. He teamed up with two friends and began promoting rock concerts. On October 3, 1969, they successfully brought Johnny Winter to Massey Hall and on October 14, 1969, they brought The Who to the Canadian National Exhibition Colisseum to perform their rock opera, Tommy. Other bands brought to Toronto included The Byrds and Pentangle. Film Gord became involved in the film industry in Toronto, Ontario in the early 1970s. Set in the Mount Olive-Silverstone-Jamestown neighbourhood Toronto, Ontario, the film explores the issue of gang violence in the neighbourhood of Rexdale.
