2007 First Division (Gambia)
The 2007 First Division season was the 39th of the amateur competition of the first-tier football in the Gambia. The tournament was organized by the Gambian Football Association (GFA) . The season began on March 1 and finished on June 24. The Real de Banjul won the tenth title after finishing with 32 points, due to financial concerns, they did not participate by the GFA in the 2008 CAF Champions League the following season. Gambia Ports Authority, winner of the 2007 Gambian Cup and qualified and competed in the 2008 CAF Confederation Cup. It was the last season featuring ten clubs, two additional clubs would be added in the following season neither the last two clubs were relegated. The season featured a total of 162 matches and scored a total of 140, nearly the same from the 2005 season with nearly 40% more. Gambia Ports Authority was again the defending team of the title. 2008 CAF Confederation Cup
The 2008 CAF Confederation Cup was the fifth edition of the CAF Confederation Cup. Its schedule began with the preliminary round (home and away ties) in mid-February. Gambia Ports Authority FC
Gambia Ports Authority Football Club is a Gambian football club based in Banjul and sponsored by the Gambia Ports Authority. They play in the top division in Gambian football, the GFA League First Division. History The Gambia Ports Authority was established in 1973 and the core of their players were snatched from Real de Banjul. It became one of the best clubs in the country with players like Goalkeeper Saho, Alhaji Sarr, Kabba Ceesay, to name a few. Real de Banjul Football Club is a Gambian professional association football club based in Banjul. The team compete in the GFA League First Division, the top flight of Gambian football league system. The Steve Biko Football Club is a football club from Bakau in the West Africa state of Gambia, located near the capital of Banjul. They played in the GFA League First Division, which was the highest league in Gambian football. They won the GFA Cup in 2000. While the football club qualified for the 2002 CAF Cup, they declined to participate. The Steve Biko Football Club was named after the murdered South African civil rights activist Steve Biko. Wallidan FC
Wallidan Football Club is a Gambian football club based in Banjul and Bakau. They play in the top division in Gambian football, the GFA League First Division, and are the most decorated team in the country's football history. They play at the Independence Stadium (Bakau) which has a capacity of 40,000. The club is one of the most successful in the Gambia with 16 championship titles won and 24 FF cup titles won (the most successful in the Gambia), 39 honours in all. Hawks Football Club is a Gambian-based first division club with its club house in Kanifing. They play in The Gambia Football Federation's premier division league called the first division. The Gambian Cup is the top knockout tournament of the Gambian football. The current champion is Real Banjul who won their four title in 2019. The winner competes in the Gambian Super Cup and also qualifies into the CAF Confederation Cup each season, if the national league champion also wins the FA cup then the second placed cup club competes.
