2007 FIVB World Grand Prix
The FIVB World Grand Prix 2007 was the fifteenth edition of the annual women's volleyball tournament, which is the female equivalent of the Men's Volleyball World League. The 2007 World Grand Prix lasted four weeks with a total number of 65 matches. During the first, second and third week each team played nine matches in total. Preliminary rounds were staged in Japan (3x), Italy, Poland, Macau, Hong Kong, Russia and Chinese Taipei. The final round was played in Ningbo, PR China, at Beilun Gymnasium over five days and the best six teams from the preliminary rounds. A round robin system was played to decide the 2007 World Grand Prix Champion. Sheilla Castro
Sheilla Castro de Paula Blassioli (born 1 July 1983 in Belo Horizonte) is a former volleyball player from Brazil, who represented her native country at the 2008 Summer Olympics and in the 2012 Summer Olympics. On both occasions the Brazilian national team won the gold medal. She also played the 2016 Summer Olympics, when Brazil placed fifth. She retired on April 9th 2022. Career She plays as opposite in the Brazilian national team, and in Molico/Osasco. She made her debut for the national team against Colombia. Castro was named "Most Valuable Player" at the 2006 FIVB World Grand Prix in Reggio Calabria, Italy, and at the 2009 FIVB World Grand Prix in Tokyo, Japan, with Brazil winning the gold medal both times. Wei Qiuyue
Wei Qiuyue (; born 26 September 1988) is a retired Chinese volleyball player. She was the captain of China women's national volleyball team between 2008-2012. Career She was part of the bronze medal winning teams at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the silver medal winning teams at the 2007 World Grand Prix. She won the 2010 Montreux Volley Masters with her national team, being awarded "Best Setter". She was named Best Setter at the 2010 World Championship. After a disappointed fifth place at the 2012 Summer Olympics, in 2013 she took a year off from the national team to repair her knee. She also signed with Igtisadchi Baku in 2013-2014 season, along with her former teammates Ma Yunwen and Zhang Lei. This was the first time she played for a club other than Tianjin. Han Xu (volleyball)
Han Xu (May 26, 1924 – July 19, 1994) was a Chinese diplomat who served as the Chinese Ambassador to the United States from 1985 to 1989, and as Vice Foreign Minister of China from 1982 to 1985. Early life Han was born May 26, 1924, in Jiangning County, Jiangsu Province. His original name was Shen Chongjian (), and Hanxu was his courtesy name, which he later adopted as his full name. His father, Shen Jiayi (), served as a grand justice during the rule of the Chinese Nationalist Government. Because of his father's position in the government, Han received an elite education. In the 1940s, he studied at Yenching University in Beijing where he met Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leaders including the future Premier Zhou Enlai. Following his graduation from Yenching, Han worked as an English professor at the North China Allied University for several years where he met his wife, Ge Jiyun.
