2007 Asia Series
Official logo (Japanese language) The third annual Konami Cup Asia Series was held in November 2007 with four teams participating. The champions from the domestic leagues in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan along with an all-star team from China took part in the competition. The tournament was sponsored by the Nippon Professional Baseball Association and Konami Corporation. All games were held in Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan. The Chunichi Dragons defeated the SK Wyverns in the title game to win the championship for Japan. Infielder Hirokazu Ibata was named the MVP of the series. The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO; ko, 한국야구위원회) is the governing body for the professional leagues of baseball in South Korea. The KBO was founded in 1981 and has governed two leagues: the KBO League ( ko, KBO 리그) and KBO Futures League ( ( farm league) since 1982. It is one of two major baseball governing bodies; the other is the Korea Baseball Association ( ko, 대한야구협회), which is the governing body for amateur baseball competitions. Kim Kwang-Hyun
Kwang-hyun Kim (Hangul: 김광현; born July 22, 1988) is a South Korean left-handed pitcher for the SSG Landers of KBO League. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the St. Louis Cardinals and in KBO for the SK Wyverns. Amateur career Kim attended Ansan Technical High School in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. In 2004, he led his team to the first national championship ever, pitching four-consecutive complete game victories in the tournament with a 0.96 ERA, and was named MVP. Yang Sen (; born 25 March 1981) is a Taiwanese baseball player who has played for Uni-President Lions of the Chinese Professional Baseball League. He played second baseman for the Lions. Chen Lien-hung (), born 13 September 1973 in Tainan, Taiwan, is a Taiwanese former baseball player who played for Chinatrust Whales and Uni-President Lions of Chinese Professional Baseball League. On August 4, 2013, he was named the manager for the Uni-President Lions. On February 16, 2015, Chen was named the hitting coach of the Uni-President Lions. Nelson Figueroa (born May 18, 1974) is an American former professional baseball pitcher and current pitching coach in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Mets, and Houston Astros. The Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) playoffs included the three top teams from the regular season and saw Uni-President Lions crowned as the champion with the Taiwan Series through the month of October, 2007.
