2007 ABA All-Star Game
The 2007 American Basketball Association All-Star Game was held in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the 10,595 seat Halifax Metro Centre from January 27 to 28. The first event, held on the 27th included a game between St. Francis Xavier University and Dalhousie University, the three point contest (Won by Aaron Cook of the Vermont Frost Heaves), the slam dunk contest (Won by Donald Beachem of the Texas Tycoons), the awards ceremony, and a small performance by Hedley and Classified to be MC'd by Farley Flex. The second event on the 28th, included a game between Saint Mary's University and Memorial University, and the All-Star game; East versus West. The West defeated the East 138-123. The American Basketball Association (ABA) was a major men's professional basketball league from 1967 to 1976. Detroit Panthers (PBL)
The Detroit Panthers are an American minor-league basketball team in the Premier Basketball League. Formerly a member of the American Basketball Association, the team was previously known as the Detroit Dogs and the Detroit Wheels. The Panthers were one of the charter franchises of the ABA and won the league's first championship as the Detroit Dogs. History 2000–2002: Detroit Dogs Initially founded in 2000 as one of the new ABA's charter franchises, the Detroit Dogs quickly became one of the league's better teams. Jacksonville Jam
The Jacksonville Jam was a basketball team based in Jacksonville, Florida, Jacksonville, Florida that was a member of the modern American Basketball Association (2000–present), American Basketball Association and the Premier Basketball League. They played their home games at the University of North Florida. Thirteen of their eighteen home games were to be played on Friday nights, while the remainder were to be played on Sundays. Jerry Williams (basketball)
Jerry Williams (born January 2, 1979) is an American former professional basketball player and current head basketball coach for the Newfoundland Rogues (Canada) and former Head coach for the ABA Jacksonville Giants in Jacksonville, Florida (USA). He had a distinguished college and European career, and played in the American Basketball Association (ABA) for 2 seasons , from 2007-2008. He played for the ABA Jacksonville Jam. A 6'6" shooting guard/small forward from Cumberland College, he was selected to the 2007 ABA All-Star Game. Williams is the only Head Coach in ABA history to win a 3 peat championship in his first 3 years as Head Coach. The Buffalo Sharks were a professional basketball team in the American Basketball Association based in Buffalo, New York. The team played two seasons as the Buffalo Rapids and Buffalo Silverbacks before suspending operations. This team is not to be confused with the Buffalo Stampede of the Premier Basketball League. History Buffalo Rapids (2005–06) The Buffalo Rapids were founded by Gary Nice and began play in the fall of 2005 as part of the ABA's Connie Hawkins Division. The Wilmington Sea Dawgs are a professional basketball team and founding member of the Tobacco Road Basketball League.
