Georgia (, ; ) is a transcontinental country at the intersection of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. The 2006–07 Georgian Cup (also known as the ''David Kipiani Cup'') was the sixty-third season overall and seventeenth since independence of the Georgian annual football tournament. The competition began on 10 August 2006 and ended with the Final held on 26 May 2007. The defending champions are Ameri Tbilisi. Liga 3 (Georgia)
Liga 3, organized by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the third division of professional football in Georgia. Until 2017, when the current name was introduced, it was known as Meore Liga (the Second league). Structure and league system There were 20 teams competing in the league in 2017. In 2019, when Liga 4 was formed, their number was reduced to ten, although after two seasons GFF decided to extend the league to 14 at the expense of two bottom teams from the previous season and two second-placed clubs from Liga 4 While and Red Groups. For 2022 the number of clubs was increased to 16. Seasons run based on Spring-Autumn system with each team playing an equal amount of home and away games against their league rivals. FC Mertskhali ( ka, მერცხალი ოზურგეთი; English: Swallows) is a Georgian association football club from Ozurgeti, currently playing in Regionuli Liga, the fifth tier of the national league system. The club has spent four seasons in Umaglesi Liga, the top Georgian division. History Early period Founded in 1936, the team finished 2nd in Division 2 in 1938 and advanced to the main league of the Soviet Georgian championship. In 1958 they claimed their first bronze medals. In the next two years Mertskhali twice clinched the Republican Cup. Football Club Chikhura Sachkhere, commonly known as Chikhura Sachkhere or simply Chikhura, is a Georgian football club based in Sachkhere. After the 2022 season they were relegated to Liga 4, the fourth tier of Georgian league system. History Founded in 1938, during World War II the club was disbanded, but later they resumed participation in low leagues of the republican championship. Since 2002 Chikhura has been financed by the Georgian businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili. The club spent many years in lower divisions before getting promoted to Umaglesi Liga in 2012. FC Guria is a Georgian association football club from Lanchkhuti, which competes in Liga 3, the third tier of the national league. Being one of the strongest Georgian teams in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Guria have taken part in the Soviet Top league, also won the national Cup and played fifteen seasons in Umaglesi Liga, twice claiming silver medals. FC Dinamo Tbilisi ( ka, დინამო თბილისი, ) is a Georgian professional football club based in Tbilisi, Georgia, that competes in the Erovnuli Liga, the top flight of Georgian football. Dinamo Tbilisi was one of the most prominent clubs in Soviet football and a major contender in the Soviet Top League almost immediately after it was established in 1936. The club was then part of one of the leading sport societies in the Soviet Union, the All-Union Dynamo sports society which had several other divisions besides football and was sponsored by the Soviet Ministry of Internal Affairs. Its main claim to European fame was winning the Cup Winners' Cup in 1981, beating FC Carl Zeiss Jena of East Germany 2–1 in the final in Düsseldorf.
