2006–07 Huddersfield Town A.F.C. Season
Huddersfield Town's 2006–07 campaign saw Town fail to make any progress in Football League One, which subsequently saw Peter Jackson lose his job in March, being replaced by Andy Ritchie the following month. The irony of his appointment being that it was Ritchie's Barnsley side who stopped Jackson's Terriers from reaching the play-off final the previous season. Squad at the start of the season Review Following the narrow play-off defeat in May 2006 to neighbours Barnsley, the 2006–07 season started with high hopes that this would be the year that Huddersfield Town would make the step up to the Championship. Huddersfield Town A
Huddersfield is a market town in the Kirklees district in West Yorkshire, England. It is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Kirklees district. The town is in the foothills of the Pennines. The River Holme's confluence into the similar-sized Colne to the south of the town centre which then flows into the Calder in the north eastern outskirts of the town. The rivers around the town provided soft water required for textile treatment in large weaving sheds, this made it a prominent mill town with an economic boom in the early part of the Victorian era Industrial Revolution. The town centre has much neoclassical Victorian architecture, one example is which is a Grade I listed building – described by John Betjeman as "the most splendid station façade in England" – and won the Europa Nostra award for architecture. Paweł Abbott
Paweł Tadeusz Howard Abbott (born 5 May 1982) is a professional footballer who played as a striker. Club career Early career Abbott was born in York, North Yorkshire to a Polish mother and an English father as the younger of two children. He first played football for Beagle Boys in York before the team changed its name to York RI. He had the chance to play for Doncaster Rovers but declined the offer and moved to Poland, where he became a youth player at ŁKS Łódź, before moving back to England to join Preston North End at the age of 19. He did not have the best time at Preston making only 25 appearances in three years and having two loan spells at Bury. The team captain of an association football team, sometimes known as the skipper, is a team member chosen to be the on-pitch leader of the team; they are often one of the older or more experienced members of the squad, or a player that can heavily influence a game or has good leadership qualities. Jon Worthington
Jonathan Alan Spencer Worthington (born 16 April 1983) is an English professional football coach and former player who currently coaches Championship club Huddersfield Town's under-19 and B Teams. Worthington previously played in the Football League for Huddersfield Town, Yeovil Town, Oldham Athletic and Bradford City and in the Conference for Fleetwood Town, Mansfield Town and FC Halifax Town. After retiring, Worthington worked as a physiotherapist at Halifax Town, before rejoining Huddersfield. Initially a physio in the club's academy, he subsequently became a youth team coach for the club. Chris Brandon
Christopher William Brandon (born 7 April 1976) is an English professional footballer who last played in Thailand for BEC Tero Sasana. He is a midfielder who has played more than 300 games during his professional career, which did not start until he was aged 23. After he was released by Bradford City's youth academy as a youngster he followed a non-league career with Bradford Park Avenue, Farsley Celtic and Stafford Rangers. He became a professional in 1999 with Division Three side Torquay United. Torquay were aiming for promotion during Brandon's first season with the club, but they finished two places outside the Division Three play-offs. Nathan Clarke (born 30 November 1983) is an English former footballer professional footballer who played as a centre-back. In a career that last from 2001 until 2021 Clarke represented Huddersfield Town, Colchester United, Oldham Athletic, Bury, Leyton Orient, Bradford City, Coventry City, Grimsby Town and FC Halifax Town. David Mirfin
David Matthew Mirfin (born 18 April 1985) is an English retired professional footballer who played as a centre back. Career Huddersfield Town Mirfin was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. He graduated from the Huddersfield Town Academy in the 2003–04 season and made an immediate impression, helping the team keep 16 clean sheets out of the 25 matches he appeared in that season and also scoring three goals as an emergency striker. Mark Hudson (born 24 October 1980) is an English football coach and former professional footballer who is assistant manager of Shildon. As a player he was a midfielder from 1999 until 2016, he notably played in the Football League for Middlesbrough, Chesterfield, Carlisle United, Huddersfield Town, Rotherham United and Blackpool. Danny Adams
Daniel Benjamin Adams (born 3 January 1976) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. Career Adams turned professional in 1999 and played for clubs including Macclesfield Town, Stockport County and Huddersfield Town. On 12 January 2007, the Huddersfield manager Peter Jackson told Adams along with two other teammates ( Paweł Abbott and Martin McIntosh) that they were for sale. After telling this to the players, Peter Jackson told them to keep quiet about this but Adams thought that this was wrong and he told BBC Radio Leeds later that night. Andrew Holdsworth, (born 29 January 1984) is an English retired professional footballer who last played for Guiseley. He has previously played for Huddersfield Town, Oldham Athletic and Morecambe.
