Czech First League
The Czech First League, known as the Fortuna liga for sponsorship reasons, is a Czech professional league for football clubs. At the top of the Czech football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Seasons typically run from August to May, most games are played on Saturdays and Sundays with few games played on Fridays. All Fortuna liga clubs qualify for the Czech Cup. The history of the Czech football league began with its reorganization for the 1993–94 season following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia and therefore the league became the successor of the Czechoslovak League. Thirty-five clubs have competed in the Fortuna liga since its founding. Sparta Prague has won the title 12 times, the most among Czech clubs. Other clubs that were crowned as champions are Slavia Prague, Slovan Liberec, Baník Ostrava and Viktoria Plzeň, who are the reigning champions. Sportovní klub Kladno, commonly known as SK Kladno or Kladno, is a association football, football club from Kladno, Czech Republic. It was founded on February 15, 1903. Prague Derby
The Prague derby ( cs, Pražské derby) or Derby of the Prague S ( cs, Derby pražských S) is a football match between local Prague rivals SK Slavia Prague and AC Sparta Prague. The two clubs are considered to be the most successful in the Czech football, having won league and cup titles multiple times. The two were both founded in the late 19th century, Slavia one year before their rivals in 1892, though Slavia did not play football until four years later. The first match between the teams was played on 29 March 1896, with the game finishing 0–0. The two clubs are the most successful and famous in the country and their dominance has led the derby to be referred in a similar way as the Scottish Old Firm. As of 5 December 2021 the fixture has been played 303 times. Sparta have won 136 of those matches, 72 ended as a draw and Slavia have won 95. Michal Bílek
Michal Bílek (born 13 April 1965) is a football manager and former player. He led the Czech Republic national football team for four years between 2009 and 2013. As a player, he represented Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic at international level. His playing position was right midfielder. Currently, he is the coach of Viktoria Plzeň. Club career During his career, Bílek was mainly associated with Sparta Prague, which he represented on four separate occasions, starting with the first team aged only 17. In 1990, he had his first and only abroad experience, in Spain with Real Betis, being relegated in his first season, and returning to Sparta after another year. He then played for FK Viktoria Žižkov and FK Teplice until 2000, appearing once again for his main club in between. Immediately after retiring, Bílek began coaching, precisely with Teplice. Stanislav Griga
Stanislav Griga (born 4 November 1961) is a Slovak football manager and former player. He played 34 matches for Czechoslovakia and scored eight goals. Career Griga was a participant in the 1990 FIFA World Cup, and had a headed goal controversially disallowed for offside in a first-round game against Italy at Stadio Olimpico. Griga joined Sparta Prague as manager in October 2005. He stayed at Sparta until August 2006, finishing with a record of 12 wins, 7 draws and 8 losses in his 27 games in charge. On 26 April 2012, Griga was named as joint coach of the Slovakia national team with Michal Hipp, who has served as interim coach since January. In June 2013, Griga and Hipp were sacked from their positions with the Slovakia national team and replaced by Ján Kozák. SK Sigma Olomouc is a Czech football club from the city of Olomouc. The club currently plays in the Czech First League, the first tier of Czech football. FK Jablonec () is a Czech professional football club based in Jablonec nad Nisou. The club has played in the top league of Czech football, Czech First League, since 1994.
