2006 High School Boys Basketball All-Americans
An All-American team is an honorary sports team that is generally composed of the best amateur players of a specific season for each team position—who in turn are given the honorific "All-America" and typically referred to as "All-American athletes", or simply "All-Americans". The term is used in U.S. team sports to refer to players who are selected by members of the national media. Walter Camp selected the first All-America team in the early days of American football in 1889. Both the McDonald's All-American team selection and the Jordan Brand All-American team selection have associated high school basketball all-star games held in conjunction with them, in which the players are divided into two teams to compete in an exhibition game. The Jordan Brand held its first contest in 2002. McDonald's All-Americans have competed in such contests since 1977, and a girls' game was added in 2002. Gregory Wayne Oden Jr. (born January 22, 1988) is an American former professional basketball player. Oden, a 7'0" (2.13m) center (basketball), center, played college basketball at Ohio State University for 2006–07 Ohio State Buckeyes men's basketball team, one season, during which the team was the 2007 Big Ten Conference men's basketball tournament, Big Ten Champion and the 2007 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, tournament runner-up in the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship records, NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. Sherron Marlon Collins (born March 18, 1987) is an American former professional basketball player who last played for the Kansas City Tornados of the NAPB (NAPB). He formerly played for the Charlotte Bobcats of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has also played for the Texas Legends and Maine Red Claws of the NBA D-League and Hacettepe Üniversitesi in the Turkish Basketball League. The 2009 NBA draft was held on June 25, 2009, at the WaMu Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
