Dorney Lake
Dorney Lake (also known as Eton College Rowing Centre, and as Eton Dorney as a 2012 Summer Olympics venue) is a purpose-built rowing lake in England. It is near the village of Dorney, Buckinghamshire, and is around 3 km (2 miles) west of Windsor and Eton, close to the River Thames. The lake is privately owned and financed by Eton College, which spent £17 million developing it. Additional grants, totalling £500,000, were obtained from Sport England, UK Sport, the DCMS and SEEDA in order to build the lake's finish tower. The project was completed in 2006, after 10 years of construction. Although it is primarily for use by the school, the facilities are hired out for rowing, as well as for canoeing, dragon boating, open water swimming and triathlon. 2012 Olympic venue The lake was used as the 2012 Summer Olympic venue for rowing and canoe sprint, and as the 2012 Summer Paralympic venue for rowing. Nathan Twaddle
Robert Nathan Twaddle (born 21 August 1976) is a former New Zealand rower and Olympic medallist. He competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, in the coxless pair rowing with his partner George Bridgewater and won a bronze medal. The pair began representing New Zealand together in 2004 and won bronze medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Twaddle was born in Whakatane, New Zealand. He crewed for the Otago University and Auckland Rowing Clubs, and won several titles at New Zealand Rowing Championships, including the single sculls championships. Twaddle crewed firstly for New Zealand at the World Championships in Milan Italy in 2003, qualifying for the Athens Olympics with pairs partner Robert Hellstrom. Brian Price (rowing)
Brian Price (born February 19, 1976) has been the Canadian coxswain of the men's eight since 2001. He was born in Belleville, Ontario. Price began rowing on the National Team in 1998 after graduating from Seneca College with a Civil Engineering Technology diploma. The first national team crew that he made was the 1998 development lightweight eight. He made the move to the heavyweight men's team in 1999 and competed at the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg. Price has competed at World Championships in the Eight from 2001 to 2008, 2011 and has earned three World Championship victories ('02,'03,'07) along with a bronze medal most recently in 2011. He has doubled up in the Eight and Coxed Pair four times and medaled each time with a bronze. His Men's Eight gold medal victories came in 2002 (Seville, Spain), 2003 (Milan, Italy) and 2007 (Munich, Germany).
