2006 World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships
The 2006 World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships is the 1st edition of the World Cup Taekwondo Team Championships, and was held at Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok, Thailand on September 18, 2006. In the individual competition of the World Cup on September 14–17, Korea won seven gold medals, two silver medals and four bronze medals overall, followed by Spain with two golds, two silvers and three bronzes and In the one-day team competition of the World Cup Championships on September 18, Korea won both male and female team titles. In the female division, Turkey stood at second place, with China finishing third. In the male division, Iran came second and France third. The best 8 male and female teams of the individual competition were allowed to compete in the team event. Indoor Stadium Huamark
Indoor Stadium Huamark ( th, อินดอร์ สเตเดียม หัวหมาก, , ) is an indoor sporting arena, located in Bangkok, Thailand. The original capacity of the arena is 15,000 spectators and it was built in 1966 for the 5th Asian Games. After renovation for 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup, the capacity is reduced to 6,000 seats and expandable to 8,000 seats. It is used mainly for concerts, badminton, boxing, basketball, futsal, and volleyball. The participating male and female teams are divided into six groups each and the top four countries at the previous championship and the host country are seeded. World Taekwondo, called the World Taekwondo Federation until June 2017, is an international federation governing the sport of taekwondo and is a member of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF).
