2006 Toppserien
The 2006 season of the ''Toppserien'', the highest women's football (soccer) league in Norway, began on 6 May 2006 and ended on 28 October 2006. 18 games were played with 3 points given for wins and 1 for draws. Number nine and ten went to a playoff round with number three and four from the First Division. The two top teams from the First Division were promoted, as the league was expanded from 10 teams to 12 teams in 2007. Kolbotn won the league after beating Trondheims-Ørn on goal difference. Toppserien
The Toppserien is the top level of women's association football in Norway. It was founded in 1984. History Women's league football was introduced on a county basis in 1977. These leagues acted as qualification for the regional (South) league in 1979. Regional leagues were in operation until the formation of the First Division 1984, when the league was divided into three regions, Group Eastern-Norway (''Østlandet''), Group Western-Norway (''Vestlandet''), and Group Mid-Norway (''Trøndelag''). No teams from Northern-Norway (''Nord-Norge'') played, however. The winners of the three groups met each other for a play-off. Regional leagues for women had been played before 1984, and a championship play-off had been done between the winners of Mid-Norway and Eastern-Norway in 1983 (Trondheims-Ørn beat Setskog 2-1), but this championship was considered unofficial by the Football Association of Norway. IF Fløya
Idrettsforeningen Fløya is a Norwegian football club from the city of Tromsø. The club was founded on 22 June 1922 and named after the Fløya mountain which overlooks Tromsø centre. The women's team has got two third-place finishes in Toppserien, in 2004 and 2005, as its best ever achievements. On 16 December 2020, the women's team merged with Tromsø IL under the name of TIL 2020. The new name was taken into effect starting from the 2022 season. The men's team plays in the Norwegian Third Division, the fourth tier in the Norwegian football league system. The famous Norwegian striker Rune Lange started his career in IF Fløya. Madeleine Giske
Madeleine Giske (born 14 September 1987) is a Norwegian football midfielder who currently plays for Toppserien team LSK Kvinner in Lillestrøm, Norway. She is also a member of the Norway women's national football team. Giske is the daughter of Anders Giske, a former professional footballer who captained the Norway national football team, as well as playing for clubs such as SK Brann, 1. FC Nürnberg, Bayer Leverkusen and 1. FC Köln. Career In 2003 as a 15-year-old Madeleine Giske joined the Bergen club IL Sandviken where she debuted in Division-1 on April 26. She was an immediate success and continued with the same club when it was promoted into the Toppserien in 2004, scoring eleven goals in that season and also in the next. Guro Knutsen
Guro Knutsen Mienna (born Guro Knutsen on 10 January 1985) is a Norwegian former footballer who played for Røa IL of the Toppserien league and for the Norway women's national football team. She played alongside her older sister Marie Knutsen in the Norwegian team that finished fourth at the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup in China. Knutsen Mienna won the Norwegian league with Røa IL in 2007 and 2008, and also in 2008 won the Royal Cup to complete " the double". She helped her club to the double again in 2009, and they won the Cup in 2010 and then the League in 2011. Trine Rønning
Trine Bjerke Rønning (born 14 June 1982) is a former Norwegian footballer. She has previously played for Trondheims-Ørn and Kolbotn. Since making her Norway women's national football team debut in October 1999, she has won over 150 caps. Rønning represented her country at the 2005, 2009 and 2013 editions of the UEFA Women's Championship, after being a non-playing squad member in 2001. She also played at the 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups, as well as at the 2008 Olympic football tournament. In February 2015 she was appointed captain of the national team. Kristin Lie
Kristin Lie (born 13 December 1978) is a Norwegian footballer who played as a striker for Egge. She was also capped while playing for Norway. Career Lie was born in Steinkjer and grew up in Namdalseid in Nord Trøndelag, where she started her football career with three local clubs, Namdalseid, Beitstad and Verdal. She joined Trondheims-Ørn in 1999. Lie was the team's top scorer in four consecutive seasons from 2006 to 2009 and also became top scorer in the 2007 Toppserien. With Trondheims-Ørn, Lie won the Toppserien in 2000, 2001 and 2003, and the Norwegian Women's Cup in 1999, 2001 and 2003. Una Obiose Kriston Nwajei (born 7 March 1977) is a Nigerian-born English former footballer. She played as a striker for Amazon Grimstad and has represented England at international level. Club career Nwajei began playing for Southampton Saints in the FA Women's Premier League National Division while attending Southampton Institute. Her form won her an international call-up and a professional contract with Fulham early in the 2002–03 season.
