2006 Supercupa României
The 2006 Supercupa României was the 9th edition of Romania's season opener cup competition. The match was played in Bucharest at Stadionul Naţional (1953), Stadionul Naţional on 22 July 2006, and was contested between Divizia A 2005–06, Divizia A title holders, FC Steaua București, Steaua and 2006 Cupa României Final, Cupa României champions, FC Rapid București, Rapid. Supercupa României
The Supercupa României ( en, Romanian Supercup) is a Romanian football championship contested by the winners of the Liga I and the Cupa României. It is usually played at the Arena Națională in Bucharest. The competition started off in 1994, with the first edition being won by Steaua București. In 2010, for the first time in its history, the Supercup was held even though CFR Cluj had been victorious in both the league and the cup in the previous season. At that time, they faced Unirea Urziceni, the Liga I runners-up. The most successful performer so far has been FCSB with 6 wins, followed by Rapid București and CFR Cluj with 4 wins each up until 2021. Sponsorship On 22 July 2005, FRF and Samsung Electronics signed a one-year sponsorship deal. The name of the competition was changed to ''Supercupa României Samsung'' for the 2005 and 2006 editions. Eugen Cătălin Baciu (born 25 May 1980 in Vaslui) is a Romanian football player. Club career *12 May 2001: Made his Divizia A debut in the FCM Bacău 2–0 defeat of Gloria Bistriţa. *Prior to joining Steaua București in 2004, he played for Laminorul Roman and FCM Bacău. *Steaua have signed Bacău's Eugen Baciu for a fee of €230,000. *He is not a first team regular at Steaua București, but when he is brought on the pitch, he does his job very well. Nicolae Dică
Nicolae Constantin Dică (; born 9 May 1980) is a Romanian professional football manager and former player, currently in charge of Liga I club Mioveni. Deployed as an attacking midfielder or a forward, Dică was known for his incisive passing, long balls and spectacular finishes. He played professionally in four countries, but spent most of his career in his native Romania representing Dacia Mioveni, Argeș Pitești, Steaua București, CFR Cluj and Viitorul Constanța. Petre Marin
Petre Marin (; born 8 September 1973) is a retired Romanian footballer who played as a defender. Club career Marin made his professional debut in 1993, when he was signed by Sportul Studenţesc of Bucharest. In 1995, he joined FC Naţional București, where he remained until 2004. During the 2000–01 season, while under contract with Naţional București, he was loaned to Rapid București. In 2004, he was transferred to Steaua București and quickly earned himself a place in the first eleven. His six-year spell with Steaua include two Liga 1 titles, and a UEFA Cup semi-final in 2006. Cornel Cernea
Cornel Cernea (born 22 April 1976) is a Romanian goalkeeping coach and former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. In his career, Cernea played for teams such as Petrolul Ploiești, Oțelul Galați, Steaua București or Unirea Alba Iulia, among others. Club career Cernea played for Grivița IRA until 1997, when he joined the Divizia B team Minerul Motru. In 1999, he returns to Grivița IRA but after only few weeks joins Petrolul Ploiești and makes Divizia A debut. Florin Lovin (born 11 February 1982) is a Romanian former professional footballer who played mainly as a defensive midfielder. Club career Lovin played for FCM Bacău between 2001 and 2005, prior to joining Steaua București. He made his Divizia A debut on 25 May 2002 in the FCM Bacău 1–2 defeat at FC National. Vasilică Cristocea
Vasilică Cristocea (born 27 July 1980) is a Romanian former football player who played as a midfielder. He made 249 appearances in Liga I. Career Cristocea made his debut playing for Carsium Hârşova's youth teams, before joining Farul Constanţa in 1999. He spent most of his career at Constanţa's team, playing 156 matches and scoring 26 goals until 2006, when he was transferred by Steaua București.
