Saanich Commonwealth Place
Saanich Commonwealth Place is a recreation center located west of the Patricia Bay Highway and north of Royal Oak Drive in Saanich, British Columbia in Canada. It was originally constructed in 1993 for the August 1994 Commonwealth Games, and is currently a prominent facility in the community. In 2002 the original weightroom was completely renovated and it re-opened for operation in 2004. Among the center's other features are a full-size gymnasium (7000 square feet), a 50-meter competition pool, 4.5 meter deep dive tank with 1-, 3-, 5-, 7.5-, and 10-meter boards, and the Bruce Hutchison Branch of the Greater Victoria Public Library. Matt Welsh
Matthew James Welsh (born 18 November 1976) is an Australian swimmer who is the former world champion in the backstroke and butterfly. He took two golds in 50-meter butterfly and 50-meter backstroke, during one hour, at the World Championships in Shanghai 2006. Welsh retired from professional swimming in March 2008 when he failed to secure a place in the team for the Beijing Olympics. Early years Welsh started swimming in his final years at Scotch College, Melbourne and moved into competitive swimming in 1995 after leaving school at the age of eighteen. He trained under coach Ian Pope at the Melbourne Vicentre Club. Jake Tapp
John Bernard Tapp (born August 6, 1988) is a Canadian former competitive swimmer and a 2008 Olympian. He is currently the Canadian short course record-holder in the 100-metre and 200-metre backstroke events, and the 100-metre individual medley. He also held the World Record in the 4 × 100 m medley relay short course in 2009. Tapp was a member of the 2008 Canadian Olympic team in Beijing. He tied at the Canadian Olympic Swimming Trials in Montreal in the final of the 100 backstroke, and had to win a swim-off to qualify for the Olympic team. He attended the University of Arizona, and swam for the Arizona Wildcats men's swimming and diving team from 2006 to 2010, and was a member of the Wildcats' NCAA Championship team in 2008. Lim Keng Liat (born 29 August 1980) is a retired Malaysian swimmer. He was born in Sandakan, Sabah. He was awarded the National Sportsman of the Year and Olympian of the Year in 1998. In 2009, he was inducted into the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) Hall of Fame. Career Lim attended The Bolles School in Jacksonville for his prep tenure and had unparalleled success. Lucas Vinícius Yokoo Salatta (born 27 April 1987 in São Paulo) is a Brazilian backstroke swimmer. At his 1998 state championship, Salatta set two age records in the 100m freestyle (1:04.50) and 100m butterfly (1:09.30) with only 11 years old. He is nicknamed the "New Ricardo Prado", after breaking one of Prado's Brazilian Records in 2002. is a Japanese competitive swimmer who competes in backstroke events. He is a Kindai University student in Osaka. He won a silver medal in the 200 metre backstroke and a bronze in the 100 metre backstroke at the 2012 Summer Olympics, along with a silver in the men's 4 × 100 m medley with the Japanese team. Andrew George Lauterstein (born 22 May 1987) is an Australian swimmer and a three-time Olympic medalist. Personal Lauterstein grew up in Black Rock, Victoria and attended Brighton Grammar School. He has an elder brother and a younger sister. In his youth, Lauterstein was in the Victorian state football team and represented Australia at baseball in youth teams.
