History

In Pakistan Television was first introduced in an exhibition near Mazar-e-Quaid on 16 September 1955. This event was arranged by American consulate in Karachi. The idea of establishing the television industry in Pakistan was conceived by the National Education Commission with the support of Ayub Khan (President of Pakistan), President Ayub Khan. Hum TV is a 24-hour Urdu General Entertainment TV channel based in Karachi, Pakistan. It was founded by Sultana Siddiqui and Duraid Qureshi. It is owned by Hum Network Limited and traded on Pakistan Stock Exchange as (HUMNL). Hum Network Limited was known as ''Eye Television Network Limited'' prior to 21 January 2011. Hum TV began its transmission on 17 January 2005. In March 2013, Hum Network held its first Hum Awards ceremony. ''Survivor Pakistan'' was Pakistan's version of the popular show '' Survivor''. The show only ran for one season that aired from August to November 2006. Due to the culture of Pakistan, only men were allowed to take part in this season which caused some protest within Pakistan. Unlike most seasons of Survivor that take place in relatively warm conditions, this season took place in a cold secluded mountain range in Pakistan. The contestants this season were split into two tribes, the Ishkuman tribe, and the Karambar tribe. During the pre-merge portion of the season, the Karambar tribe proved to be the stronger of the two tribes, winning four of the six immunity challenges. Following the merge, the former Ishkuman tribe members were on the outs and were voted out of the merged tribe before most of the former Karambar members. ''Geo Entertainment HD'' or Geo Drama is a Pakistani entertainment television channel owned by Geo Television Network was established in May 2002. Its test transmission started on 14 August 2002 on the PAS 10 digital satellite whereas on 1 October 2002 the regular transmission of Geo Entertainment was started. History GEO has been one of the oldest Pakistani networks, and regularly has received good TRPs on various daily soaps, reality series, and drama serials since inception. Geo used to show a lot of daily soaps when it was in its initial years and the soaps got popular too.
