The president of India ( IAST: ) is the head of state of the Republic of India. The president is the nominal head of the executive, the first citizen of the country, as well as the commander-in-chief of the Indian Armed Forces. Droupadi Murmu is the 15th and current president, having taken office from 25 July 2022. The office of president was created when India officially became a republic on 26 January 1950 after gaining independence on 15th August 1947, when its constitution came into force. The president is indirectly elected by an electoral college comprising both houses of the Parliament of India and the legislative assemblies of each of India's states and territories, who themselves are all directly elected by the citizens. Krishna Mohan Seth
Lieutenant General Krishna Mohan Seth retired as the Adjutant General of Indian Army and was the Governor of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Tripura. Personal life Krishna Mohan Seth was born on December 19, 1939 in Allahabad. He is married to Veena and they have two sons. Military career Lieutenant General Seth was commissioned in the Regiment of Artillery of the Indian Army. He commanded the 17 (Parachute) Field Regiment between March 1979 and October 1980. He commanded XXI Strike Corps at Bhopal, following which he was picked to command III Corps in Nagaland between October 1994 and October 1995. He was then appointed the Adjutant General. He retired on 31 December 1997. Political career He was the Governor of Tripura from 23 June 2000 to 31 May 2003. Lieutenant General Srinivas Kumar Sinha, PVSM, ADC (January 7, 1926 – November 17, 2016) was an Indian Army General who served as the Vice Chief of Army Staff. After his retirement, he served as Governor of the states of Jammu and Kashmir, and Assam. Early life Srinivas Kumar Sinha was born on 7 January 1926 in Patna, Bihar. He was the son of Mithilesh Kumar Sinha, IP, Inspector-general of police of the state of Bihar and the grandson of the first Indian Inspector General of India in the British Raj, Alakh Kumar Sinha. He graduated with Honours from Patna University in 1943 at the age of 17 and joined the Indian Army soon thereafter. He was recognised as the Best Cadet of the Officers' Training School, Belgium, the war-time equivalent of the Sword of Honour. He was commissioned into Jat Regiment and after India gained independence, moved to the 5th Gorkha Rifles. Syed Sibtey Razi (7 March 1939 – 20 August 2022) was an Indian politician belonging to the Indian National Congress who served as the governor of Assam and Jharkhand, in addition to also serving as the Deputy Home minister of India. Early life Razi was born on 7 March 1939 to Syed Wirasat Husain and Razia Begum in Jais ,Rae Bareli (now in Amethi district) a town of Awadh region in Uttar pradesh. He went to school at the Husainabad Higher Secondary school, and then to the Shi'a College where he was President of the Student Union. During the same period he maintained accounts for two restaurants Kays Kozy Corner and Hotel Krishna, where he worked for Prem Narain Tandon, a local businessman. The governor of Jammu and Kashmir was the head of the Indian state Jammu and Kashmir. When India became independent, Hari Singh was the Maharaja of the Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir. Technically he remained so until 17 November 1952, although from 20 June 1949 his son Karan Singh acted as regent.
