2006 IAAF World Cross Country Championships – Women's Short Race
The Women's short race at the 2006 IAAF World Cross Country Championships was held at the Umi-no-nakamichi Seaside Park in Fukuoka, Japan, on April 2, 2006. IAAF
World Athletics, formerly known as the International Amateur Athletic Federation (from 1912 to 2001) and International Association of Athletics Federations (from 2001 to 2019, both abbreviated as the IAAF) is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, race walking, mountain running, and ultra running. Isabella Ochichi
Isabella Bosibori Ochichi (born October 28, 1979, in Kisii District) from Kenya was the silver medal winner in the final of the women's 5,000 meter race at the 2004 Summer Olympics held in Athens, Greece. She finished in a time of 14:48.19, about 2.5 seconds behind the winner, Meseret Defar of Ethiopia. In 1997, aged 17, she competed in France for her first overseas races. She was selected to represent Kenya at the 2001 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, where she finished eighth. She competed at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships between 2002 and 2006, the best result being short race bronze medals in 2002 and 2005. Olesya Syreva (russian: Олеся Сырева; b. 25 November 1983 in Novosibirsk) is a Russian middle/long-distance runner who specializes in the 1500 and 3000 metres. Carmen Douma-Hussar
Carmen Douma-Hussar (born March 12, 1977) is a Canadian middle-distance runner. She is a member of the Guelph Track and Field Club and is coached by Marcus O'Sullivan and Albert Tschirhart. She was the silver medalist in the 1500 m at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships. Douma-Hussar was a 1500 m finalist at the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2005 World Championships in Athletics and the 2006 Commonwealth Games. She represented Canada in the short race at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships six times between 2001 and 2006. Her best performance of 17th in 2004 brought Canada the team bronze medal. Kara Goucher (born Kara Grgas on July 9, 1978) is an American long-distance runner. She was the 10,000 meters silver medalist at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics and represented the USA at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Olympics. She made her marathon debut in 2008 and finished third the following year at the Boston Marathon. Bouchra Chaabi (born 22 September 1980 in Bougargouh) is a Moroccan long-distance runner who specializes in the 3000 metres steeplechase. Malindi Elmore (born March 13, 1980 in Kelowna, British Columbia) is a Canadian track and field athlete specialising in the middle-distance events. As of January 19, 2020 she holds the Canadian record for the marathon, running a 2:24:50. She was a five-time All-American at Stanford University and holds the school record in the 800m and 1500m distances. Blake Russell (née Phillips; born July 24, 1975) is an American long-distance runner who represented her country at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. After finishing third in the marathon at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, she went on to finish 27th in the Olympic marathon in Beijing.
