The 2006 Champ Car Atlantic season was the 33rd season of the Champ Car Atlantic Championship. It began April 9 at Long Beach and concluded September 24 at Road America. Yokohama Rubber Company
is a tire company based in Tokyo, Japan. The company was founded and began on October 13, 1917, in a joint venture between Yokohama Cable Manufacturing and B.F. Goodrich. In 1969, the company expanded to the United States as Yokohama Tire Corporation. The Aspec A300 was the driving force behind its tremendous rise. US RaceTronics
US RaceTronics (USRT) is an auto racing team based in Buttonwillow, California, that competes in the Atlantic Championship. It was founded by former Dorricott Racing Team Manager Shane Seneviratne. Seneviratne and the Dorricott Racing organization dominated both the Toyota Atlantic and Indy Lights open wheel series. The team won numerous awards and race wins, including series championships in 1999, 2001, and 2002. Dorricott Racing founder Bob Dorricott died of cancer in 2002 and Seneviratne assisted in the liquidation of the team’s assets after the 2003 season. Alex Barron (racing Driver)
Alex Barron (born June 11, 1970) is an American former race car driver. He began racing CART FedEx World Series Championship cars in 1998 and made his first Indy Racing League Northern Lights Series (now IndyCar Series) start in 2001. The 1997 KOOL Toyota Atlantic Champion, moved across to the IRL, where he had trouble finding a regular drive and got his opportunities through injuries to other drivers. However, in 2006, he stepped down a level to race in the Champ Car Atlantic Championship, and then returned to IRL in 2007. Alan Sciuto
Alan Sciuto (born 28 April 1988 in Orange, California) is a former racing driver. Sciuto competed previously in the Atlantic Championship among other series. Racing career Sciuto started his racing career in 2001 with the SKUSA organisation. In his first season Sciuto finished 26th in the season standings of the national 80cc Junior class. The Californian won the championship in the following year beating many young prospects such as James Hinchcliffe and Graham Rahal. In 2004 Sciuto finished second in the Stars of Karting shifterkart championship. After a shootout race at Infineon Raceway Sciuto was selected for the Red Bull Junior Team in 2004. Polestar Racing Group is an American motorsport team based in Chardon, Ohio, which competes in the Atlantic Championship. It was founded in 2001 and is owned by husband and wife team Jim and Pam Griffith, and Bruce Potter. Polestar has notched 6 victories in the Atlantic series, the first one in 2004, by Ronnie Bremer, who moved to Polestar after driving the season’s first five races for Brooks Associates Racing. Kyle Kelley
Kyle Kelley (born June 28, 1985) is an American professional sports car racing driver in the Trans-Am Series' TA2 class. He has also raced in NASCAR, competing in the Nationwide Series from 2010 to 2013 as a road course ringer. Racing career Kelley began racing in the Trans-Am Series' TA2 class in 2009, eventually competing full-time the following year. In June 2010, in addition to the Trans-Am race at the track, he ran the inaugural NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Road America. Alex Sperafico
Alexandre Sperafico (born January 21, 1974 in Toledo, Paraná) is a Brazilian racing driver. He is the oldest of the four racing Speraficos. From 2000 to 2001, and for one start in 2003, Alexandre competed in the Barber Dodge Pro Series and won a race at Sebring on the weekend of the 2001 12 Hours of Sebring. In 2002 he was one of the three Speraficos in Formula 3000, joining Ricardo and Rodrigo. He raced for the Minardi Junior Team in nine events. In 2003 he returned stateside and made his Champ Car World Series debut for Dale Coyne. In 2004 he ran half of the season for Mi-Jack Conquest Racing and a few races for CTE-HVM Racing in 2005. Unable to find a seat on the grid in 2006, Sperafico moved to the Brooks Associates Racing team in the ultra competitive Atlantic Series. After this, he retired from the competition. Norbert Siedler
Norbert Siedler (born 29 December 1982 in Wildschönau) is an Austrian racing driver. Career Siedler began his career in motorsport in karts. In 1992 he began at the age of ten years in the German Kartszene and in 1997, won the junior class. In 1999, he was an Austrian kart driver. In 2000, he moved into Formula Ford and won in Germany and Austria as well as the championship. In 2001 he drove in the German Formula Three Championship. For the team Palfinger he finished 4th place twice, including once at Hockenheim supporting the German Grand Prix. In 2002, he was sixth in the championship and finished the season with a victory in the last race at Hockenheim. This was followed by three years in the Italian Euro Formula 3000 Championship. Carlos Mastretta Aguilera (born 26 January 1984) is a Mexican auto racing driver. His early racing career saw him compete in Formula Renault in Mexico and the United Kingdom. Luis Schiavo (born July 3, 1981, in Caracas, Venezuela) is a former racing driver. Schiavo won the 2001 Pro Mazda title and also participated in USF2000, Atlantic Championship among other series. Racing career Schiavo made his formula racing debut in the Skip Barber Southern Series in 1999 after a ten-year karting career. The Venezuelan finished his first race, at Sebring International Raceway, in fourth place (behind Craig Duerson, Rafael Sperafico and Bud Risser). Racing a partial schedule in the 1999-2000 season Schiavo ended 35th in the season standings. In 2001 Schiavo debuted in the Star Mazda series. Brooks Associates Racing is an American motorsport team based in Tucson, Arizona, which competes in the Indy Lights series. It previously competed in the Atlantic Championship where it won the 2008 season championship. The team was founded in 2000 by owner John C. Brooks, a former driver himself. Atlantic Championship 2004 Ronnie Bremer raced the first five races of the season with Brooks Associates Racing, before moving to Polestar Motor Racing. He was replaced by Al Unser III for three late season races. Tõnis Kasemets made six starts for the team and finished thirteenth in points. Raphael Matos (born August 28, 1981) is a Brazilian professional racing driver. He was the 2008 Firestone Indy Lights Series champion and the 2007 Champ Car Atlantic Series champion.
