A Lyga
The A Lyga is the top division of professional football in Lithuania. The A Lyga is an abbreviation of Aukščiausia lyga meaning Highest League. It is organized by Lithuanian Football Federation LFF ( lt, Lietuvos Futbolo Federacija). The Aukščiausia lyga also existed during the Soviet period of Lithuania, but was not considered to be a professional league until dissolution of the Soviet Union. The league size has varied between 8 and 12 teams in the recent seasons, however 2020 A Lyga the league featured record low of only 6 teams. But in the latest 2021 A Lyga season there were 10 teams. The final list of participants often does not correlate to the final results of the previous season, as the participation is finalized through the Lithuanian Football Federation league licensing process. FC Vilnius
FC Vilnius was a Lithuanian football club, playing in the capital city of Vilnius. At first it was known under the name ''Šviesa''. In 2003, the club made its debut in the Lithuanian top division. In 2007, the club went back to the second division, and in 2008, this club ceased to exist. The club was founded in 1974 on the basis of the Lithuanian national youth team. Up to 1990 there were around 500 youths were training in the club's facilities. After Lithuanian's independence, the sports organisations underwent restructuring. In 2001 by the initiative of businessman Algimantas Breikštas the club was recreated as restored the club as „Šviesa“. The club played in A Lyga between 2003-2007. Since 2004 season the club was renamed to FC Vilnius. After a turmoil with player contracts in 2008 the club failed to qualify for A Lyga license, and fell apart. Mantas Savėnas
Mantas Savėnas (born 27 August 1982) is a former Lithuanian professional Association football, footballer who played as a midfielder. He is currently a coach for FK Panevėžys. Savėnas represented Lithuania national football team, Lithuania at under-21 level before establishing himself as a regular player in the Lithuanian national team. In the 2005 LFF Lyga, 2005 season Savėnas became Lithuanian A Lyga top scorer with 27 goals and was voted best player in Lithuania, receiving 177 from 200 votes. Following the 2013 season Savenas was voted as the Daugava Rīga best player of the season. In 2014, he was the club's top scorer with 10 goals in 30 appearances. FK Interas Visaginas
FK Visaginas (also previously Interas-AE) is a Lithuanian football team from Visaginas. Before 2006, the club was fully amateur and many players of the team worked in an atomic plant. The club was promoted to Lithuanian A Lyga 2007 season and completely revamped its squad, mostly taking players on loan from FC Vilnius. But after a disastrous season the club failed to acquire A lyga license and was also denied participation in LFF I Lyga. FK Sūduva
FK Sūduva is a Lithuanian professional football club based in the city of Marijampolė. Founded in 1968, the club competes in the A Lyga, the top flight of Lithuanian football. The club has been playing in the A Lyga since 2002. In 2006, the club won its first trophy – the Lithuanian Cup, a feat they repeated in 2009. In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are often called open leagues. The 2007 UEFA Intertoto Cup was the 19th and penultimate edition of the competition and took 50 entries. Three rounds were held, and 11 teams qualified for the second qualifying round of the UEFA Cup. The draw took place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on 23 April 2007. 2007–08 UEFA Cup
The 2007–08 UEFA Cup was the 37th edition of the UEFA Cup, UEFA's second-tier club football tournament. The final was played at the City of Manchester Stadium, Manchester, England on 14 May 2008 between Rangers of Scotland and Zenit Saint Petersburg of Russia. The 2007–08 UEFA Champions League was the 16th season of UEFA's premier European club football tournament, the UEFA Champions League, since it was rebranded in 1992, and the 53rd tournament overall.
