2006 AFL Under 18 Championships
The 2006 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships was the 11th edition of the AFL Under 18 Championships. Eight teams competed in the championships: Vic Metro, Vic Country, South Australia and Western Australia in Division 1, and New South Wales/Australian Capital Territory (NSW/ACT), Northern Territory, Queensland and Tasmania in Division 2. The competition was played over three rounds across two divisions. Vic Metro and Queensland were the Division 1 and Division 2 champions, respectively. The Larke Medal (for the best player in Division 1) was awarded to Victoria Metro's Tom Hawkins, and the Hunter Harrison Medal (for the best player in Division 2) was won by Queensland's Ricky Petterd. Tom Hawkins (footballer, Born 1988)
Thomas John Hawkins (born 21 July 1988) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). At 198 cm (6 ft 6 in) tall and weighing , Hawkins has the ability to play as either a full-forward or centre half-forward. He grew up in New South Wales before moving to Victoria to attend Melbourne Grammar School, where his football abilities earned him a spot in the first XVIII in year ten. He played top-level football with the Sandringham Dragons in the TAC Cup and Vic Metro in the AFL Under-18 Championships. Leroy Jetta
Leroy Jetta (born 6 July 1988) is an Australian rules footballer who last played with the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League. An outstanding junior, Jetta was twice named in the Under 18 All-Australian Team as well as being adjudged the joint winner of the Kevin Sheehan Medal, awarded to the Best Player in Division 1 at the Under 16 National Championships. He was also a graduate of the AIS-AFL Academy in 2005. The speedy forward was drafted by the Bombers with the priority selection (18th overall) in the 2006 AFL Draft from South Fremantle. David Dickson (footballer)
David Dickson (born 12 May 1952) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the VFL during the 1970s. Dickson, who went to school in Coburg, played his early football in the VFA with Preston. He made his Carlton debut in 1972, the same game that Alex Jesaulenko celebrated his 100th, and finished the year playing on the wing in their premiership side. Robert Eddy
Robert Eddy (born 7 January 1988) is an Australian rules footballer, currently playing for Woodville-West Torrens Football Club in the South Australian National Football League. He previously played for in the Australian Football League (AFL). Overview Eddy grew up in Gippsland, Victoria and attended Caulfield Grammar School in Melbourne. Jarryd Allen
Jarryd Allen (born 14 January 1988) is a former Australian rules footballer for the AFL's St Kilda Football Club. He was drafted with the 59th selection by the Saints in the 2006 AFL draft from TAC Cup club, the Calder Cannons. Nathan Djerrkura (born 19 September 1988) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club and the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Nathan Djerrkura was born to Gatjil and Jenny Djerrkura in the indigenous community of Yirrkala, Northern Territory on 19 September 1988. Craig Bird
Craig Bird (born 21 January 1989) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Sydney Swans and Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was drafted to the Swans with the 59th pick in the 2007 AFL draft after previously being part of the NSW AFL scholarship program. Bryce Gibbs (Australian Rules Footballer)
Bryce Gibbs (born 15 March 1989) is a retired professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club and the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Pre-AFL Gibbs was an exceptional youth talent, which led to much speculation about his ultimate AFL drafting. In 2004 he won Glenelg's Under 17s best and fairest award, despite spending part of the season playing SANFL reserve grade. Matthew Leuenberger
Matthew Leuenberger (born 7 June 1988) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions and the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Leuenberger represented Western Australia in the 2006 AFL Under 18 Championships and was rewarded with All-Australian selection as the ruckman. Tom Hislop (born 7 June 1988) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club and Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was drafted by the Essendon Football Club in 2006 at pick 20 in the 2006 AFL draft. He made his debut in Round 14 against and kicked a goal.
