UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics
The UCI Track Cycling World Cup (formerly known as the UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics) is a multi race tournament held over a track cycling season - usually between October and February. Each series is divided into several rounds, each held in a different country. Format The UCI Track Cycling World Cup is a key event within the Track Cycling calendar, with only the World Championships and the Olympic Games attracting more World Ranking points. The series is open to national teams and registered trade teams who compete over a number of track cycling disciplines. The overall classification is decided on a points system with riders or teams amassing points in each discipline competed during each round of the series. The rider or team that has the greatest number of points in each discipline wears a white jersey in that discipline in the following round to denote their status as leader. Colby Pearce
Colby Pearce (born June 12, 1972) is an American professional cyclist. Known as a time trial specialist, he excelled on the road and on the track, where he won a number of national and international events around the globe. Biography Born in Boulder, Colorado, Pearce began riding in the Red Zinger Mini Classics series for 10–15 year olds in 1988. He rode his first race at what was to become his "home track", the USOTC velodrome in Colorado Springs, in 1990. He competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, finishing 14th in the points race. In November 2005 he retired from the national team and became the US National Endurance Coach, saying he wanted to put something back into the sport. But in April 2007, he resigned from his position as coach to return to competitive cycling, although he would still be involved in developing the sport. Craig MacLean MBE (Grantown-on-Spey, July 31, 1971) is a Scottish track cyclist who has represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, winning a silver medal in the Team Sprint at the 2000 Olympics. As a sighted guide, MacLean returned to the sport in its Paralympic form, piloting Neil Fachie to two gold medals in the 2011 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships, and Anthony Kappes to a gold medal in the 2012 Paralympic Games. MacLean is only the second athlete, after Hungarian fencer Pál Szekeres, ever to win medals at both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Stefan Nimke (born 1 March 1978 in Hagenow, Bezirk Schwerin) is an Olympic and world champion track cyclist from Germany. At the 2000 Summer Olympics, he won the silver medal in the men's 1 km time trial, and was part of the German men's team that finished 7th in the men's team sprint.
