2005–06 England Hockey League Season
The 2005–06 English Hockey League season took place from September 2005 until June 2006. The men's title was won by Cannock for the fourth consecutive year with the women's title going to Leicester. There were no playoffs to determine champions after the regular season but there was a competition for the top four clubs called the Super Cup which was held at Cannock Hockey Club from June 16–18. The Men's Cup was won by Reading and the Women's Cup was won by Bowdon Hightown. Men's England Hockey League
The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. The winners of the Premier Division regular season automatically qualify to play in the Euro Hockey League. League Finals Weekend The top four Premier Division teams from the regular season qualify for the League Finals Weekend. Chelmsford Hockey Club
Chelmsford Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Chelmsford, Essex, England. The club's home ground is at Chelmer Park, with a capacity of 100 seats and numerous standing. Southgate Hockey Club
Southgate Hockey Club is a field hockey club based at Southgate Hockey Centre in Trent Park, near Oakwood in London. The men's 1st XI play in the Men's England Hockey League. The club has 9 men's sides, 5 ladies' sides and a large junior section. History The club was formed in 1886. Matches were initially played in Broomfield Park, Palmers Green; in 1890 the club relocated to the Walker Ground on Waterfall Road. In order to meet the challenge created by the introduction of artificial grass pitches, the club began hiring pitches away from the Walker Ground from around 1985. After a search for a new location, the club relocated to Southgate Hockey Centre during the 1997/98 season. For most of its history the club has provided many players for the national side and, prior to the formation of organised leagues in 1968, featuring prominently in the unofficial leagues published in the press. Beeston Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Beeston, England. The club was founded in 1907, and plays its home games at the Nottingham Hockey Centre in Nottingham. Beeston is nicknamed ''the Bees''. The men's 1st XI plays in the Men's England Hockey League and the ladies 1st XI in the Women's England Hockey League. Clifton Robinsons Hockey Club is a field hockey club based at Westbury-on-Trym in Bristol. It was formed by the merging of Clifton Ladies Hockey Club and Robinsons Hockey Club.
