2005 Spa 24 Hours
The 2005 Proximus 24 Hours of Spa was the 58th running of the Spa 24 Hours and the sixth race for the 2005 FIA GT Championship season. It featured the combination of the FIA GT's two classes (GT1 and GT2) with cars from national and one-make series, designated G2 and G3. It took place on 30 and 31 July 2005 at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. Half-point leaders For the FIA GT Championship, the top eight cars in the GT1 and GT2 classes are awarded half points for their positions after six hours and twelve hours into the race. Points to the top eight were awarded in the order of 4.0 – 3.0 – 2.5 – 2.0 – 1.5 – 1.0 – 0.5. Note that the factory Aston Martin Racing squads and the GLPK-Carsport team are listed in these results for the place in which they were running at the time. Spa 24 Hours
The 24 Hours of Spa is an Endurance racing (motorsport), endurance racing event for cars held annually since 1924 at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Stavelot, Belgium. It is currently sponsored by TotalEnergies. History The Spa 24 Hours was conceived by Jules de Their and Henri Langlois Van Ophem just one year after the inaugural 24 Hours of Le Mans was run. It debuted in 1924 over a circuit on public roads between the towns of Francorchamps, Malmedy and Stavelot, under the auspices of the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium (RACB). The present circuit was inaugurated in 1979 with only slight variations since then. The Spa 24 Hours was part of the European Touring Car Championship from 1966 to 1973, again in 1976 and from 1982 to 1988 (with the exception of 1987 Spa 24 Hour, 1987 when it was part of the 1987 World Touring Car Championship, inaugural World Touring Car Championship). Maserati MC12
The Maserati MC12 (''Tipo M144S'') is a limited production two-seater sports car produced by Italian car maker Maserati to allow a racing variant to compete in the FIA GT Championship. The car entered production in 2004, with 25 cars produced. A further 25 were produced in 2005 after the FIA changed the rules and reduced the maximum length allowed. The second batch of 25 are 150mm shorter than the originals, making a total of 50 cars available for customers. With the addition of 12 cars produced for racing, a total of just 62 were ever produced. Maserati designed and built the car on the chassis of the Ferrari Enzo, but the final car is much larger and has a lower drag coefficient, along with being longer, wider and taller and has a sharper nose and smoother curves than the Enzo. Marc Goossens
Marc Goossens, nicknamed The Goose (born 30 November 1969), is a Belgian professional racing driver that currently competes in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, driving the No. 14 Chevrolet Camaro for SpeedHouse in the EuroNASCAR PRO class. Racing career Goossens drove full-time in Formula 3000 from 1994 to 1996 and part-time from 1999 to 2001. In between he drove in endurance races and is a veteran of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. From 2002 to 2005 he then raced in FIA GT. In 2007 and 2008 he drove a Riley-Pontiac Daytona Prototype at the Rolex Sports Car Series, scoring two wins with teammate Jim Matthews. Steve Zacchia
Steve Zacchia (born 15 August 1982 in Yverdon-les-Bains) is a Swiss racing driver, currently competing in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup for Hope Racing. Early career Zacchia began go-karting in 1998 when he finished fourth in the Swiss Regional Championship in Category B. He raced in Category A in 1999 finishing third in the standings. In 2000, he started competing in European Championships and getting into the finals of the Winfield World Challenge. His single seater career only lasted a year, when he began competing in the 2001 Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup season. He competed in every race weekend but did not score a point. Enzo Calderari
Enzo Calderari (born 18 April 1952, Bienne, Switzerland) is a Swiss entrepreneur and former car racing driver. Career Enzo Calderari is the son of Jacques Calderari, who was active as a sports car driver in the 1960s. The son, a real estate agent in his day job, can look back on a racing career spanning almost 30 years. He began GT and touring car racing in the 1970s and, together with Marco Vanoli, finished sixth overall in the 1980 European Touring Car Championship (overall winner Helmut Kelleners and Siegfried Müller junior). Lilian Bryner
Lilian Bryner (born 21 April 1959) is a racing driver from Switzerland. Career She has mainly raced in the FIA GT Championship from 1997 until 2005 and has raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Her first race at Le Mans was in 1993, but her most successful was finishing second in the GT2 class with Ecurie Biennoise and ninth overall in 1994. In 1995 she joined Stadler Motorsport but in the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans her #79 Porsche 911 GT2 retired completing 81 laps. In the same year she entered in the BPR Global GT Series and finished 3rd in the standings taking only one podium. The Ferrari 550 Maranello (''tipo'' F133) is a front-engine V12 2-seat grand tourer built by Ferrari from 1996 to 2001. Christophe Bouchut (born 24 September 1966 in Voiron, Isère) is a French professional racing driver. He currently competes in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, driving for Dexwet-df1 Racing and Alex Caffi Motorsport in a part-time effort. He won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1993. He was named as the first driver for the F1 Larrousse team for the 1995 season, but the team withdrew before the first race. Kurt Mollekens
Kurt Mollekens (born 8 March 1973 in Bonheiden) is a Belgian race car driver and team owner. Mollekens debuted as a driver in top-level karting during 1990, staying there until 1992 when he moved up to Formula Ford. His debut Formula Ford year was successful, him winning all three titles he challenged for – Benelux Formula Ford, Dutch Formula Ford and Belgian Formula Ford. Mollekens also achieved success in the 1993 British Formula Ford season, which helped him into Formula Opel Euroseries (1994) and the British Formula 3 Championship (1995). He stayed in the latter during 1996, at which time he won the international Formula Three race at Zandvoort, his biggest win. Philipp Peter (born 6 April 1969 in Vienna) is a race car driver from Austria. He started in junior formula cars with the highlight winning the Austria Formula 3 Cup in 1992.
