Group A of the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup took place between 15 June and 21 June 2005. Germany won the group, and advanced to the second round, along with Argentina. 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup
The 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup football tournament was the seventh FIFA Confederations Cup. It was held in Germany between 15 June and 29 June 2005, as a prelude to the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The tournament was won by 2002 FIFA World Cup winners Brazil, who defeated Argentina 4–1 in the final at the Waldstadion in Frankfurt. The final was a rematch of the Copa América final also won by Brazil. It was Brazil's second win at the Confederations Cup. Qualified teams Venues Originally, Kaiserslautern's Fritz-Walter-Stadion was also intended as a venue. However, on 27 May 2004, city authorities withdrew from the bidding process, citing added costs to complete the stadium on time as the reason for the withdrawal. Maxi Rodríguez
Maximiliano "Maxi" Rubén Rodríguez (; born 2 January 1981) is an Argentine former footballer. Nicknamed ''La Fiera'' (''The Beast'' in English), he was commonly used as a winger on both flanks but could also operate as an attacking midfielder. Anis Ayari ( ar, أنيس العياري; born February 16, 1982) is a Tunisian former footballer. He last played for Étoile du Sahel. Radhi Ben Abdelmajid Jaïdi ( ar, راضي بن عبد المجيد الجعايدي; born 30 August 1975) is a Tunisian former footballer who played as a centre back. Karim Saïdi ( ar, كريم سعيدي; born 24 March 1983) is a Tunisian former footballer who last played for Belgian club Lierse SK. He now runs a coffee shop in Tunisia. Hatem Trabelsi ( ar, حاتم الطرابلسي, Ḥātem Ṭrabelsī; born 25 January 1977) is a Tunisian former professional footballer who played as a right-back for CS Sfaxien, Ajax, Manchester City and Al-Hilal Riyadh. Khaled Fadhel (born September 29, 1976 in Tunis) is a Tunisian football former player and goalkeeper. He played for Kayseri Erciyesspor in Turkey. José Pékerman
José Néstor Pékerman Krimen (; born 3 September 1949) is an Argentine professional football coach and current manager of the Venezuela national team. As a youth level coach for Argentina, he won the FIFA World Youth Championship three times, and the U20 South American Youth Championship twice. He coached the Argentina national football team in the 2006 FIFA World Cup and became coach of the Colombia national team in 2012. Luciano Martín Galletti (; born 9 April 1980) is an Argentine retired footballer who played as a right winger.
