The Dorchester
The Dorchester is a five-star luxury hotel on Park Lane and Deanery Street in London, to the east of Hyde Park. It is one of the world's most prestigious and expensive hotels. The Dorchester opened on 18 April 1931, and it still retains its 1930s furnishings and ambiance despite being modernised. Throughout its history, the hotel has been closely associated with the rich and famous. During the 1930s, it became known as a haunt of numerous writers and artists such as poet Cecil Day-Lewis, novelist Somerset Maugham, and the painter Sir Alfred Munnings. It has held prestigious literary gatherings, such as the "Foyles Literary Luncheons", an event the hotel still hosts today. Jane Antonia Cornish
Jane Antonia Cornish is an English composer. She is based in Los Angeles, California, and focuses on contemporary classical music. Early life and education Cornish grew up in Kent, England, where she studied violin, piano and composition from an early age. She went to the Folkestone School for Girls in Kent and then studied composition with Dr. Anthony Gilbert at the Royal Northern College of Music, and completed her master's degree at the Royal College of Music. She is a recipient of the Edward Hecht Composition Prize, the RNCM Composition Prize and the Associated Board Prize for the Most Outstanding Scholar of the Year. Cornish was also made a Major Scholar of the RNCM. Music Solo albums ''Duende'' Delos released Cornish's first chamber music album, ''Duende'', in April 2014. Jonathan Whitehead
Jonathan Whitehead (21 October 1960 – 26 May 2020) was an English musician and composer, born in Denton, Lancashire. He wrote music for television comedies such as ''The Day Today'', ''Brass Eye'', ''Black Books'', ''Green Wing'', '' Campus'' and '' Nathan Barley''. He studied music at the University of Bristol and later lived in London. He sometimes wrote under the name "Trellis". His music for ''Green Wing'' was nominated for a BAFTA and won the RTS Award for Best Original Music. A selection of music from the series was released on CD under Whitehead's artistic nom de plume, Trellis. Green Wing
''Green Wing'' is a British sitcom set in the fictional East Hampton Hospital. It was created by the same team behind the Sketch comedy, sketch show ''Smack the Pony'' – Channel 4 commissioner Caroline Leddy and producer Victoria Pile – and stars Mark Heap, Tamsin Greig, Stephen Mangan and Julian Rhind-Tutt. Although set in a hospital, it uses no medical storylines; the action is produced by a series of soap opera-style twists and turns in the personal lives of the characters. They proceed through a series of often absurd sketch-like scenes, or by sequences where the film is slowed down or sped up, often emphasising the body language of the characters. ''Himalaya with Michael Palin'' is a 2004 BBC television series presented by comedian and travel presenter Michael Palin. It records his six-month trip around the Himalaya mountain range area. The trip covered only 4,800 km (3,000 miles) horizontally, but involved a lot of vertical travelling, including several treks into the mountains. Jonathan (Jon) Goldsmith is a Canadian musician, arranger, producer and composer. Best known as a composer of film and television scores, he has also been associated with various projects as a musician, including Nick Buzz and the Art of Time Ensemble, and production of albums by artists including Bruce Cockburn, Jane Siberry, Martin Tielli, Hugh Marsh, Bourbon Tabernacle Choir and Sarah Slean. Career In 1992, Goldsmith, along with Hugh Marsh, Martin Tielli and Rob Piltch, provided backup for a track on the album Back to the Garden; these four later formed the band Nick Buzz and produced two albums and an EP. ''Garth Marenghi's Darkplace'' is a British horror parody television series created by Richard Ayoade and Matthew Holness for Channel 4. The show focuses on fictional horror author Garth Marenghi (played by Holness) and his publisher Dean Learner (played by Ayoade), characters who originated in the stage show ''Garth Marenghi's Fright Knight''. The series is presented as a special release of the fictional television series ''Darkplace''. Andrew Hewitt (born March 28th, 1976) is an English composer based in Los Angeles. Training Hewitt was classically trained from childhood as a pianist and tenor singer. He won music scholarships to the Westminster Abbey Choir, Uppingham School, the National Youth Music Theatre, St John's College, Cambridge, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Before university, he toured chorally worldwide, and after graduation in 2000, he continued to perform in concerts, global tours, and CD recordings for such classical groups as John Eliot Gardiner's Monteverdi Choir, Robert King's The King's Consort, The John Rutter Singers, Synergy, Opera Rara, the London Voices, and Metro Voices.
