2005 Arizona State Sun Devils Football Team
The 2005 Arizona State Sun Devils football team represented Arizona State University in the 2005 NCAA Division I-A football season. It played its home games at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. The September 10 game vs. LSU was scheduled to be played at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, but was moved to Tempe due to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in south Louisiana. LSU's Pete Maravich Assembly Center, which is just north of Tiger Stadium, was serving as a triage center for seriously injured victims from the storm. Arizona State had to grant dispensation for ESPN to televise the game, as the Pac-10 did not have a broadcast contract in place with ESPN at the time, and for the use of Southeastern Conference game officials in a Pac-10 stadium. After a victory over the Arizona Wildcats in the Territorial Cup, Arizona State went on to play in the 2005 Insight Bowl defeating the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 45-40 for their second consecutive bowl victory in a row. Dirk Koetter
Dirk Jeffrey Koetter ( ; born February 5, 1959) is an American football coach who is currently serving as the interim offensive coordinator at Boise State University. He was the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL) from 2016 to 2018. Koetter was also the head coach at Boise State University from 1998 to 2000 and at Arizona State University from 2001 to 2006, compiling a career college football record of . Koetter was the offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons, and Buccaneers. Early years Koetter grew up in Pocatello, Idaho, the son of Jim Koetter, a German American football coach. Arizona Wildcats Football
The Arizona Wildcats football program represents the University of Arizona (UA) in the sport of American college football. Arizona competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Pac-12 Conference#Divisions, South Division of the Pac-12 Conference (Pac-12). They play their home games at Arizona Stadium, which opened in 1929 on the university's campus in Tucson, Arizona, and has a capacity of 50,782. The team is coached by Jedd Fisch. Arizona's inaugural season was in 1889. 2005 Oregon Ducks Football Team
In 2005, Oregon had success behind senior quarterback Kellen Clemens and a new spread offense. During a game at Arizona, Clemens suffered a broken ankle. At that point Oregon was 8-1 (their only loss was to #1 ranked USC 45-13, the loss was vacated in 2010), and still in the hunt for a BCS game. Oregon won their final three games and their success led them into contention for a bid to the Fiesta Bowl. The Ducks finished the regular season with a 10-1 record, their best finish since their Joey Harrington-led, 2002 Fiesta Bowl, Fiesta Bowl-winning 2001–2002 team. They finished 5th overall in the Bowl Championship Series, BCS ranking system, which would in many years have been high enough to earn them a bid to a BCS Bowl. ''College GameDay'' (branded as ''ESPN College GameDay built by Home Depot, The Home Depot'' for sponsorship reasons) is a pre-game show broadcast by ESPN as part of the network's ESPN College Football, coverage of college football, broadcast on Saturday mornings during the college football season, prior to the start of games with a 12:00 pm ET kickoff. In its current form, the program is typically broadcast from the campus of the team hosting a featured game being played that day and features news and analysis of the day's upcoming games. The 2005 USC Trojans football team represented the University of Southern California in the 2005 NCAA Division I-A football season, winning the Pacific-10 Conference (Pac-10), and playing for the NCAA Division I-A national championship. The team was coached by Pete Carroll, led on offense by quarterback and 2004 Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart, and played their home games in the Los Angeles Coliseum. Reser Stadium
Reser Stadium is an outdoor athletic stadium in the northwest United States, on the campus of Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. It is the home of the Oregon State Beavers of the Pac-12 Conference, and opened in 1953 as Parker Stadium. It was renamed in 1999.
