Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. Yekaterina Aleksandrovna Gamova (russian: Екатерина Александровна Гамова; born 17 October 1980) is a retired Russian volleyball player. She was a member of the Russian national team that won the gold medals at the 2006 and 2010 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championships, and the silver medal in both the Athens 2004 and Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Due to her stature and dominance at the net, she has been hailed as the "Queen of Volleyball". She is tall with EU size 49 feet, making her one of the tallest female athletes in the world. Yoshie Takeshita (竹下 佳江 ''Takeshita Yoshie'', born March 18, 1978) was a Japanese volleyball player who played for JT Marvelous. She served as Head Coach of Japanese volleyball team Victorina Himeji. and now serves as Executive Adviser.
