2004 UC Davis Aggies Football Team
The 2004 UC Davis football team represented the University of California, Davis in the 2004 NCAA Division I-AA football season. They were a charter member of the Great West Football Conference (GWFC), having previously played as a Division II independent. The 2004 Aggies were led by head coach Bob Biggs in his twelfth year and played their home games at Toomey Field. UC Davis finished the season with a record of six wins and four losses (6–4, 3–2 GWFC). This was the 35th consecutive year UC Davis finished with a winning record. Bob Biggs
George Robert Biggs (born February 20, 1951) is a former American football player and coach. He played college football for UC Davis and was selected by the Associated Press as the first-team quarterback on the 1972 Little All-America college football team. He served as the head football coach at the University of California, Davis from 1993 to 2012, compiling a career record of 144–85–1. The 2004 Cal Poly Mustangs football team represented California Polytechnic State UniversityThe official name of Cal Poly is California Polytechnic State University. However, it has been more commonly known as either Cal Poly San Luis Obispo or just Cal Poly since 1947. during the 2004 NCAA Division I-AA football season. Cal Poly competed as a charter member of the new Great West Football Conference (GWFC). They had previously been a Division I-AA Independent. 2005 San Diego Chargers Season
The San Diego Chargers season was the franchise's 36th season in the National Football League, and the 46th overall. The Chargers failed to improve on their 12–4 record in 2004, and finished the campaign 9–7 and 3rd overall in their division, missing out on the playoffs for the first time since 2003. Outside linebacker Shawne Merriman was named Rookie of the Year at the end of the season. Despite missing the playoffs, the Chargers defeated some of the best teams in the NFL, such as the defending Super Bowl champions New England Patriots (41–17) and the previously undefeated Indianapolis Colts (26–17; ending the prospect of a perfect season). Cory Lekkerkerker (born July 25, 1981) is a former American football offensive tackle. He was signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2005. He played college football at UC Davis. Lekkerkerker appeared in 26 NFL games as a member of the San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins in 2006 and 2007. Lekkerkerker was also a member of the Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans, California Redwoods, and Sacramento Mountain Lions. The Oakland Raiders season was the franchise's 36th season in the National Football League, the 46th overall, and the 11th back in Oakland. They were unable to improve upon their previous season's output of 5–11, instead only going 4–12. The team finished the season on a six-game losing streak. The Raiders acquired Randy Moss from the Minnesota Vikings in a trade for linebacker Napoleon Harris and a first-round draft pick. The 2004 North Dakota State Bison football team represented North Dakota State University in the 2004 NCAA Division I-AA football season. It was the program's first season competing at the NCAA Division I-AA level. The Bison were led by second-year head coach Craig Bohl and played their home games at the Fargodome in Fargo, North Dakota. They finished the season with an overall record of 8–3 and tied for third in the Great West Conference with a 2–3 mark. North Dakota State was ineligible for the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs per NCAA rules, during their first four seasons at the NCAA Division I-AA/FCS level.
