2004 UCLA Bruins Football Team
The 2004 UCLA Bruins football team represented the University of California, Los Angeles in the 2004 NCAA Division I-A football season. They played their home games at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California and were coached by Karl Dorrell. It was Dorrell's second season as the UCLA head coach. UCLA was not ranked in the preseason polls. The Bruins finished 6–6 overall, and were tied for fifth place in the Pacific-10 Conference with a 4–4 record. The Bruins were invited to play in the Las Vegas Bowl vs. Wyoming on December 30, 2004. Karl Dorrell
Karl James Dorrell (born December 18, 1963) is an American football coach who was most recently the head coach at the University of Colorado. Dorrell most notably served as the head football coach of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from 2003 to 2007, compiling a record of 35–27. He led the UCLA Bruins to five bowl appearance in five seasons, but did not coach in the fifth after he was fired in December 2007. Dorrell was the first and only African American head football coach in UCLA's history to date. In 2020, Dorrell was hired as the new head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. In his first season at CU, he was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year. In 2022, Dorrell was fired after an 0–5 start to the season, with 4 consecutive 25+ point losses, being named the worst start to college football season in 65 years. The 2004 California Golden Bears football team was an American football team that represented the University of California, Berkeley in the Pacific-10 Conference (Pac-10) during the 2004 NCAA Division I-A football season. In their third year under head coach Jeff Tedford, the Golden Bears compiled a 10–2 record (7–1 against Pac-10 opponents), finished in second place in the Pac-10, and outscored their opponents by a combined score of 441 to 192. The 2004 Arizona Wildcats football team represented the University of Arizona during the 2004 NCAA Division I-A football season. They were coached by Mike Stoops in his first season with the Wildcats, after taking over the program after a disastrous 2003 season that led to the firing of former Arizona coach John Mackovic. Arizona finished the season with a record of 3–8 (2–6 against Pac-10 opponents), which was a slight improvement from 2003. 2004 Washington Huskies Football Team
The 2004 Washington Huskies football team was an American football team that represented the University of Washington during the 2004 NCAA Division I-A football season. In its second and final season under head coach Keith Gilbertson, the team compiled a 1–10 record, winless in the Pacific-10 Conference, and was outscored 334 to 154. This was Washington's first losing season since 1976. Following lopsided road losses at USC and Oregon, Gilbertson announced on the first of November that he would step down at the end of the season.
