RLIF Awards
The RLIF Awards are the Rugby League International Federation's annual major international sporting award for rugby league. Since 2004 the awards ceremony recognises the best referee, coach, developing nations player, international newcomer, captain and a team of the year. In 2007, the RLIF did not organise any awards. To fill the gap, Rugby League World magazine asked its Golden Boot panel to come up with winners in the existing categories used by the RLIF. Coinciding with the 2008 Rugby League World Cup, the RLIF Awards were rebranded and the old award system was replaced. Rugby League World Golden Boot Award
The ''Rugby League World'' Golden Boot Award is a rugby league award handed out annually for achievements in rugby league by ''Rugby League World'' magazine. The ''Golden Boot'' is given, usually in December after the conclusion of all the year's matches, to the player adjudged to be the best in the world, as determined by a ballot of international media representatives. The Rugby League International Federation (RLIF) announced that the 2018 awards will be extended to include a Golden Boot for the best international female player. The inaugural award was won by Isabelle Kelly, the Australia and Sydney Roosters . History The award was founded in early 1985 by the British magazine ''Open Rugby'' and was awarded to Wally Lewis for his performances throughout 1984. Sonny Bill Williams
Sonny Bill Williams (born 3 August 1985) is a New Zealand heavyweight boxer, and a former professional rugby league and rugby union player and as of recently is working for Stan Sports. He is only the List of dual-code rugby internationals#New Zealand, second person to represent New Zealand in rugby union after first playing for the country in rugby league, and is one of only 21 List of winners of multiple Rugby World Cups, players to have won the Rugby World Cup twice. Williams began his career in rugby league, and has played as a forward over eight seasons in three spells in the National Rugby League (NRL), with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and Sydney Roosters. He has won 12 caps for New Zealand national rugby league team, New Zealand (the Kiwis) and won the RLIF Awards for Rookie of the Year in 2004 and International Player of the Year in 2013. Jamal Fakir (born 30 August 1982) is a Moroccan rugby league footballer who plays as a or for the Lézignan Sangliers club in the Elite One Championship. Background Fakir was born in Fez, Morocco. He is Moroccan-French. Career Fakir caught the attention of Super League and French rugby union sides before the Dragons' entry into Super League in 2006. After a strong debut season in Super League, Fakir's progress has been hampered by two serious knee injuries, firstly a ruptured patella tendon sustained in late 2006, and then cruciate ligament damage sustained in May 2007 which ended his season. Brian David Noble Order of the British Empire, MBE (born 14 February 1961), also known by the nickname of "Nobby", is an English rugby league coach and former rugby league footballer. As a footballer, Noble was a Great Britain national rugby league team, Great Britain representative , but is best known for his coaching career, during which he coached the Bradford Bulls, the Wigan Warriors, the Crusaders Rugby League, Crusaders RL and the Salford Red Devils in the Super League, and the Great Britain national rugby league team, Great Britain national team. Darren James Lockyer (born 24 March 1977) is an Australian television commentator and former professional rugby league footballer. Lockyer was an Australian international and Queensland State representative captain, who played his entire professional career with the Brisbane Broncos. During his 16-year career he set appearance records for his club, state and country, and also set additional all-time records for most National Rugby League appearances, most State of Origin appearances, most games as captain and most tries for the Australian national team.
