Elections to Liverpool City Council were held on 10 June 2004. The whole council was up for election, with boundary changes since the last election in 2003 reducing the number of seats by nine. The Liberal Democrat party kept overall control of the council. Liverpool Wards 2004
Liverpool is a city and metropolitan borough in Merseyside, England. With a population of in 2019, it is the 10th largest English district by population and its metropolitan area is the fifth largest in the United Kingdom, with a population of 2.24 million. On the eastern side of the Mersey Estuary, Liverpool historically lay within the ancient hundred of West Derby in the county of Lancashire. It became a borough in 1207, a city in 1880, and a county borough independent of the newly-created Lancashire County Council in 1889. Its growth as a major port was paralleled by the expansion of the city throughout the Industrial Revolution. Steve Rotheram
Steven Philip Rotheram (born 4 November 1961) is a British Labour Party politician who is the Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region. He previously served as the MP for Liverpool Walton from 2010 to 2017. Rotheram was born in Liverpool and left school to become a bricklayer, setting up his own company at the age of 22. He started a Masters in Contemporary Urban Renaissance at Liverpool Hope University. He worked as a Business Manager for the Learning and Skills Council and represented Fazakerley as a councillor on Liverpool City Council. Rotheram was the Member of Parliament for Liverpool Walton from 2010 to 2017. He also served as the Lord Mayor of Liverpool from 2008 to 2009 and a Councillor for Fazakerley from 2002 to 2011. Rotheram was the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn's Parliamentary Private Secretary. Rotheram won a majority vote in the Liverpool City Region mayoral election 2017 and was re-elected in 2021. Tuebrook & Stoneycroft
Tuebrook ward was an electoral district of Liverpool City Council centred on the Tuebrook district of Liverpool. Background The Ward (politics), ward was first established in 1953, its boundaries changed in 1973, 1980 and 2004 where it was renamed Tuebrook and Stoneycroft before being split up in 2023. 1980 boundaries The ward boundary was changed for the 1980 Liverpool City Council election, 1980 elections. Princes Park is a Liverpool City Council Ward in the Liverpool Riverside Parliamentary constituency. The population of the ward taken at the 2011 census was 17,104.
