2004 European Parliament Election In Finland
The 2004 European Parliament election in Finland was the election of MEP representing Finland constituency for the 2004-2009 term of the European Parliament. It was part of the wider 2004 European election. The vote took place on 13 June. Both the Finnish Social Democratic Party and the Finnish Centre Party improved their vote at the expense of the conservative National Coalition Party and the Greens. A Member of the European Parliament (MEP) is a person who has been elected to serve as a popular representative in the European Parliament. When the European Parliament (then known as the Common Assembly of the European Coal and Steel Community, ECSC) first met in 1952, its members were directly appointed by the governments of member states from among those already sitting in their own national parliaments. Ulpu Iivari
Ulpu Iivari (born 20 March 1948 in Salla) is a Finnish people, Finnish Social Democratic Party of Finland, Social-Democrat politician and former Member of the European Parliament (MEP). A journalist by education, Iivari began her political career as a representative in the Finnish Parliament for one term from 1991 to 1995, when she moved into the European Parliament. Iivari did not win a seat at the 2004 European Parliament election in Finland, 2004 election. She withdrew from politics and currently works as a consultant in the communications industry.
