Connecticut State Senate
The Connecticut State Senate is the upper house of the Connecticut General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Connecticut. The state senate comprises 36 members, each representing a district with around 99,280 inhabitants. Senators are elected to two-year terms without term limits. The Connecticut State Senate is one of 14 state legislative upper houses whose members serve two-year terms; four-year terms are more common. Gayle Slossberg (born May 14, 1965) is an American politician. A Democrat, Slossberg is a former seven term Connecticut State Senator having served between 2005 and 2019. Bill Finch (born March 4, 1956) is an American retired politician who served as mayor of Bridgeport, Connecticut for eight years after previously serving in the Connecticut Senate for seven years. George Lackman "Doc" Gunther (November 22, 1919 - August 26, 2012) was the longest-serving state legislator in Connecticut history. Senator Gunther represented the 21st Connecticut Senate District, comprising all of Shelton, Connecticut, Shelton, most of Stratford, Connecticut, Stratford, and parts of Monroe, Connecticut, Monroe and Seymour, Connecticut, from 1966 to 2006.
