2004 Cal State Fullerton Titans Baseball Team
The 2004 Cal State Fullerton Titans baseball team represented California State University, Fullerton in the 2004 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Titans played their home games at Goodwin Field. The team was coached by George Horton in his 8th season at Cal State Fullerton. The Titans won the College World Series, defeating the Texas Longhorns and former Titans head coach Augie Garrido in the championship series. George Horton (baseball)
George Edward Horton (born October 5, 1953) is an American baseball coach. He was head coach of the Oregon Ducks baseball and Cal State Fullerton Titans baseball programs. Playing career Horton was born and raised in Downey, California and graduated from Downey High School in 1971. He played on the Cerritos College baseball team in 1972 and 1973 under coach Wally Kincaid. Horton then played two seasons under head coach Augie Garrido at Cal State Fullerton in 1975 and 1976. He was on the Fullerton team that made the school's first appearance in the College World Series in 1975. Coaching career Horton began his coaching career the same place he began his collegiate playing career, Cerritos College. He coached there for two seasons before moving onto Los Angeles Valley College. From there he went back to Cerritos College as an assistant before eventually becoming the head coach. Brett Pill
Brett Michael Pill (born September 9, 1984) is a retired Major League Baseball player. He played for the San Francisco Giants and the Kia Tigers of the KBO League. Amateur career Pill attended Covina High School and California State University, Fullerton, where he played for the Cal State Fullerton Titans baseball team. As a freshman in 2004, he played in 50 games but had only 80 at-bats, hitting .313 with two home runs and 17 RBI. In 2005 he hit .327 with nine home runs and 57 RBI for the Titans, and played collegiate summer baseball for the Orleans Cardinals of the Cape Cod Baseball League. In his junior year, Pill hit .328 with five home runs and 40 RBI. Professional career Draft and minor leagues Pill was drafted twice. Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium, formerly Varsity Park, is a baseball stadium on the campus of the California State University, Fresno in Fresno, California, United States. It was built in 1966. The field is the home of the Fresno State Bulldogs baseball, Fresno State Bulldogs baseball team and named after former Fresno State baseball coach Pete Beiden. Jerry Kindall Field at Frank Sancet Stadium was a college baseball park in the southwestern United States, located on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. Prior to 2012, it was the home field of the Arizona Wildcats of the Pac-10 Conference. Opened in 1967 and originally called "Wildcat Field," the venue was named after Frank Sancet (head coach from 1950 to 1972) in 1986, and was renamed in 2004 to include former head coach Jerry Kindall. The 2004 Arizona Wildcats baseball team represented the University of Arizona in the 2004 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Wildcats played their home games at Jerry Kindall Field at Frank Sancet Stadium. The team was coached by Andy Lopez in his third year at Arizona.
