2003–04 In Welsh Football
This article lists major events during the 2003–04 season in Welsh football. National team Wales almost qualified for Euro 2004 in Portugal. They finished 2nd in a group that contained Italy, Serbia-Montenegro and Finland and made the play-offs. The Euro 2004 Qualifying play-offs pitted Wales with Russia. A 0–0 draw in a cold November evening in Moscow was followed by a 1–0 defeat in Cardiff. Welsh Cup Rhyl beat Total Network Solutions 1–0 after extra time in the final of the Welsh Cup. Welsh League Cup Rhyl beat Carmarthen Town 4–0 in the final of the Welsh League cup. Welsh Premier League 2003–04 saw Rhyl win the Welsh Premier League. TNS were about to win but a last day slip saw Rhyl claim the title. Euro 2004
The 2004 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2004, was the 12th edition of the UEFA European Championship, a quadrennial football competition contested by the men's national teams of UEFA member associations. The final tournament was hosted for the first time in Portugal, from 12 June to 4 July 2004. A total of 31 matches were played in ten venues across eight cities – Aveiro, Braga, Coimbra, Guimarães, Faro/ Loulé, Leiria, Lisbon, and Porto. As in 1996 and 2000, the final tournament was contested by 16 teams: the hosts plus the 15 teams that came through the qualifying tournament, which began in September 2002. Llanelli A
; ) is a market town and community in Carmarthenshire and the preserved county of Dyfed, Wales. It is on the estuary of the River Loughor and is the largest town in the county of Carmarthenshire. The town is north-west of Swansea and south-east of Carmarthen. At the 2021 census the community had a population of 25,366, and the built up area had a population of 42,155. The local authority was Llanelli Borough Council when the county of Dyfed existed, and it has been under Carmarthenshire County Council since 1996. Caernarfon (; ) is a royal town, community and port in Gwynedd, Wales. It has a population of 9,852 (with Caeathro). It lies along the A487 road, on the eastern shore of the Menai Strait, opposite the island of Anglesey. The city of Bangor is to the north-east, while Snowdonia (Eryri) fringes Caernarfon to the east and south-east. Welsh Football League Division One
The Welsh Football League Division One, known as the Nathanielcars.co.uk Welsh League First Division for sponsorship reasons, was a association football, football league in South Wales. It formed the top division of the Welsh Football League and the second level of the Welsh football league system until the 2019–20 season when it was replaced by the Cymru South. From the 2019–20 season it operated at the third level of the Welsh football league system. If the team which finished top of the Division had good enough ground facilities, it was promoted to the Welsh Premier League and was replaced by one of the two teams finishing bottom of the Premiership. The Cymru Premier, known as the JD Cymru Premier for sponsorship reasons, is the national football league of Wales. It has both professional and semi-professional status clubs and is at the top of the Welsh football league system. It was founded in 1992, as the first league representing all of Wales.
