2003–04 Ukrainian Second League
The 2003–04 Ukrainian Second League was the 13th season of 3rd level professional football in Ukraine. The competitions were divided into three groups according to geographical location in the country – A is western Ukraine, B is southern Ukraine and Crimea, and C is eastern Ukraine. FC Hirnyk Rovenky ( uk, Футбольний клуб «Гірник») was a Ukrainian football club from Rovenky, Luhansk Oblast. In past it was named FC Avanhard Rovenky. History Main club Some trace its history back to 1924 when there was created the first football club in the city as the 1. "Krasny Gornyak". However, Avanhard is better known since 1946 when the team started to compete under the flag of Voluntary Sports Society (VSS) Shakhter. FC Ihroservice Simferopol was a Ukrainian football team based in Simferopol, Ukraine. Uniform colours are white shirts and blue shorts. History FC Ihroservis traces its heritage to FC Dynamo Simferopol (part of the Dynamo sports society) that was created in 1936 and participated in the Soviet football competitions until the late 1950s when it was dissolved. In 2000 the football expert Mikhail Sachko and the businessman Nikolai Pashkulsk decided to recreate Dynamo club in place of the already existing FC Pishchevyk (Kharchovyk) Simferopol. In July 2001 the new Dynamo Simferopol joined the professional ranks of the Ukrainian competitions in the Ukrainian Second League. FC Spartak Ivano-Frankivsk was a Ukrainian football team based in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine, the unofficial capital of the Prykarpattia region. History The club was founded in 1940 after the Soviet occupation of the Eastern Poland during the World War II. All previous local sports clubs were liquidated and replaced with "proletarian". In 1956 the club gained promotion to the Soviet Class B (second tier) by winning a play-off match-up against SKCF Sevastopol in 1955. FC Kalush ( uk, Футбольний клуб «Калуш») was a Ukrainian professional football club from Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. History The club was founded soon after World War II as Khimik Kalush and in the Soviet competitions competed at regional level and KFK (amateur level). The club was reestablished in place of previously existed Polish club at the chemical plant TESP that also was overtaken by Soviets. Khimik Kalush also was associated with the Soviet chemical and metallurgical association "Khlorvinil" that was expanded in 1961. At KFK level the club competed until 1995, when as Khimik entered the Druha Liha. Its main sponsor "Khlorvinil" was reorganized as a state enterprise "Oriana". FC Karpaty-3 Lviv was a Ukrainian football farm-team of Karpaty Lviv from Lviv, Ukraine. Created in 1997, until 2001 it played as ''Karpaty-2 Lviv''. Name evolution In 2001 due to the merger between FC Karpaty Lviv and FC Lviv, Karpaty preserved the place of FC Lviv in the First League and transformed the former FC Lviv into the new Karpaty-2. The other Karpaty-2 Lviv that competed in the Second League was renamed to Karpaty-3. FC Sokil Zolochiv is a Ukrainian football club from Zolochiv, Lviv Oblast that currently competes at the Amateur level. The club entered the Ukrainian Amateur Championships in 2008. Also they compete in the Lvivska Oblast competition. History In their history the club also played in the professional leagues. After performing well in the amateur competitions Sokil Zolochiv entered the Ukrainian Second League in 2000. They finish 2nd in their initial season as well as in the 2001–2002 season and were promoted into the Ukrainian First League. During the 2002–03 season they performed one of the biggest upsets in modern Ukrainian Football when they eliminated Ukrainian Premier League side FC Metalurh Zaporizhzhia in the 2002–03 Ukrainian Cup 1/16 finals.
